A glass hourglass on a dark wooden table, for the 90 day rule on Zong postpaid to prepaid conversion in Pakistan

Zong converts a postpaid number to prepaid for Rs 200 plus tax, and only after the number has spent 90 days on postpaid, even if it was a postpaid SIM from the start. Clear your bill first. Then call 310 or visit a Zong Customer Service Centre or franchise to ask for the change.

The number stays the same. What changes is how you pay: no monthly bill and no credit limit, just loads and bundles. We read Zong's postpaid FAQs and its payment methods page on 5 November 2026. Below are the rules Zong prints, what it leaves out, and what to check before you pay.

The conversion costs Rs 200 plus tax

Zong's postpaid FAQ answers the question directly: yes, a postpaid number can become prepaid "after settling Conversion Charges of PKR 200+tax". Zong does not give the tax amount, which depends on your province, so expect to pay a little more than Rs 200.

Prepaid to postpaid waitNone the first time, 90 days for the second

The same Rs 200 figure appears on Jazz for the same change. Our Jazz postpay to prepaid guide covers that network.

Zong postpaid to prepaid conversion rules in Pakistan: Rs 200 plus tax and a 90 day wait

The 90 day rule applies even the first time

Zong applies a 90 day restriction to every postpaid to prepaid conversion, "even if the first activation is on postpaid". So a postpaid SIM bought last month cannot move to prepaid yet. Count 90 days from when the number went onto postpaid.

The rule the other way is softer. Moving from prepaid to postpaid has no wait the first time. Only a second move has the 90 day limit. So if you switched to postpaid recently and regret it, you are locked in for 90 days from that switch.

Zong does not say how it counts the 90 days, by calendar days or by bill cycles. If you are close to the line, ask on 310 for the exact date your number becomes eligible.

Clear your bill and know your credit limit first

Before converting, check what you owe. SMS "BL" to 567 for your current bill, free resources and any advance payment. SMS "CL" to 567 for your credit limit, which Zong says equals your first security deposit. Pay the full amount before you ask.

  • Bill: send BL to 567, or dial *102# for remaining minutes, SMS and data.
  • Credit limit: send CL to 567.
  • Line rent: Zong says the bill shows line rent only up to the date it is made, charged daily, not the full month.
  • Email bill: send EBSUB followed by your email address to 3100 for a free email bill.

Zong's FAQ has one more line worth knowing. If a number is dormant for 90 days or more and has reached its credit limit, Zong "reserves the right" to adjust the unpaid bill against the security deposit. Our guide to Zong postpaid plans and bill codes has the full list of 567 and 3100 codes.

Zong postpaid codes in Pakistan before converting: BL to 567 for the bill, CL to 567 for the credit limit

How to convert, step by step

Zong's FAQ does not print a code or an online form for this change. Its postpaid page sends customers to the 310 helpline or the nearest Customer Service Centre or franchise. Take your original CNIC in case the counter asks for fingerprints.

  1. Check that the number has been on postpaid for at least 90 days.
  2. Send BL to 567 and pay the full bill.
  3. Call 310 from your Zong number, or visit a Zong Customer Service Centre or franchise.
  4. Ask for postpaid to prepaid conversion and pay Rs 200 plus tax.
  5. Ask how your security deposit will be returned or adjusted.
  6. Once you are on prepaid, load balance and subscribe to a bundle.

Zong does not say how long the change takes. Keep a receipt for the conversion charge and for your last bill payment, in case a final bill arrives later.

Steps to convert a Zong postpaid number to prepaid in Pakistan through 310 or a franchise

Ask about your security deposit before you pay

Zong's FAQ says nothing about refunding the postpaid security deposit after conversion. Since your credit limit equals that deposit, it may be a large sum. Ask at the counter whether it is refunded, adjusted against your last bill, or added to your prepaid balance.

Get the answer in writing, or note the name of the person and the date. If Zong does not return money you think you are owed, file a complaint on 310 first. If that fails, the PTA complaint route in our PTA telecom complaint guide is the next step.

Your load validity once you are on prepaid

On prepaid, each load comes with a validity period. Zong's payment page lists 30 days for a Rs 50 to Rs 99 load, up to 365 days for Rs 1,000 or more. Scratch cards come in Rs 100, Rs 300, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.

Zong Load amountScratch cardValidity
Rs 50 to Rs 99None30 days
Rs 100 to Rs 299Rs 10060 days
Rs 300 to Rs 499Rs 30090 days
Rs 500 to Rs 999Rs 500180 days
Rs 1,000 to Rs 20,000Rs 1,000365 days

Load a card by dialling *101*PIN#. Check prepaid balance with *222#. For what happens when validity ends, see our prepaid balance validity guide.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Zong's postpaid FAQs and postpaid payment methods page at zong.com.pk on 5 November 2026. The Rs 200 plus tax charge, the 90 day rules, the 567 and 3100 codes and the load validity table come from those pages. Zong does not say how long conversion takes, whether a code exists for it, or how the security deposit is handled; we have said so rather than guess. We did not convert a number.
