An hourglass on a dark wooden table, for converting a Jazz Postpay number to Prepaid in Pakistan

To convert a Jazz Postpay number to Prepaid in Pakistan, visit a Jazz franchise or Experience Centre with your original CNIC. Jazz charges Rs 200 once. Your Postpay bill must be fully paid, the number must have been active on Postpay for the last 90 days, and the SIM owner must pass a fingerprint check. The switch is immediate and you keep the same SIM and number.

We read Jazz's FAQ page on 4 November 2026 for these rules. People usually switch back to Prepaid for one of two reasons: the monthly bill keeps running higher than expected, or a late payment fee keeps landing on top of it. Jazz's own rules on both are below, along with the one part of its FAQ that reads like a copying mistake.

Jazz Postpay to Prepaid rules at a glance

Jazz sets four conditions. The number must have been active on Postpay for 90 days. The bill must be clear. The owner must come in person for a fingerprint check. And there is a one-time Rs 200 charge. Conversion happens on the spot.

Note the place. Jazz lists franchises and Experience Centres for this job, not ordinary retailers. A shop that sells Jazz load cannot do it. Our Jazz Experience Centre list has the ten addresses, and a blank SMS to 7089 returns the nearest franchise.

Clear your Jazz Postpay bill first

Jazz will not convert a number with any unpaid bill. Check the amount by dialling *1111#, which Jazz lists as free, or send "Hi" to Jazz WhatsApp on 0300-3008000 and reply "1". Pay it in full before you go, because Jazz charges Rs 100 plus tax on bills paid after the due date.

Jazz lists several ways to pay a Postpay bill:

  • The Jazz World app, by tapping "Pay Bill".
  • Jazz WhatsApp on 0300-3008000.
  • The JazzCash app, under "Mobile Loads & Bundles".
  • Any 1LINK ATM, or your bank's app.
  • A Jazz scratch card, or Jazz load at a retailer.

Keep the payment SMS or receipt and show it at the counter if the system still shows a balance due. Our guide to checking and paying a Jazz Postpaid bill covers downloading the bill as well.

If the number has already been cut off for non-payment, Jazz lists *6767# as a self-service code to restore a Postpay number temporarily. Dial it from the same number.

Convert Jazz Postpay to Prepaid, step by step

Pay the bill, take your original CNIC to a Jazz franchise or Experience Centre, pass the fingerprint check, and pay Rs 200. The number moves to Prepaid on the same SIM straight away.

  1. Check that the number has been on Postpay for at least 90 days.
  2. Pay the full bill and keep the payment message.
  3. Take your original CNIC to a Jazz franchise or Experience Centre.
  4. Ask for Postpay to Prepaid conversion and pass the fingerprint check.
  5. Pay Rs 200, then recharge, since Prepaid runs on balance.
Steps to convert a Jazz Postpay number to Prepaid

After the switch, the minimum Jazz recharge is Rs 80, and Jazz says Prepaid balance has unlimited validity on its network. Pick a Prepaid bundle by dialling *444#.

One line in Jazz's FAQ does not fit

Jazz's answer on Postpay to Prepaid also says a deposit is needed "as per the selected package plan", with a Rs 1,000 minimum. A security deposit is a Postpay rule, so this line looks carried over from another answer. Ask at the counter before you pay anything beyond Rs 200.

The deposit question cuts the other way too. If you paid a security deposit when you joined Postpay, you will want it back when you leave. Jazz's FAQ does not say how or when a Postpay deposit is returned on conversion. Ask for it in writing at the counter, and keep your original deposit receipt if you have it.

If staff cannot answer, a complaint through the SIMOSA app creates a record. The steps are in our guide to registering a Jazz complaint.

Ask Jazz about the Postpay security deposit before converting to Prepaid

Going the other way: Jazz Prepaid to Postpay is free

Moving from Prepaid to Postpay costs nothing on Jazz, apart from the security deposit for the plan you choose. You can do it in the SIMOSA app or at a Jazz outlet, on the same SIM, with immediate effect.

In SIMOSA, Jazz lists the route as: select a price plan, accept the terms, confirm the OTP, then pay the security deposit. At a franchise or Experience Centre, it is your CNIC, a plan, a fingerprint check and the deposit. Retailers can do this direction too, unlike Postpay to Prepaid.

That difference matters before you decide. Joining Postpay is free and fast, but leaving costs Rs 200, needs 90 days on the plan and a trip in person. If you only want a bigger bundle for one month, a Prepaid monthly bundle is the easier choice. The full plan list is in our Jazz Postpay packages guide.

Sources and last checked

On 4 November 2026 we read Jazz's FAQ page, which gives the Postpay to Prepaid rules and Rs 200 charge, the Prepaid to Postpay route, the *1111# bill check, the bill payment channels, the *6767# restore code, the Rs 100 late payment fee, the Rs 80 minimum recharge and the *444# bundle menu. The same answer lists a Rs 1,000 minimum deposit, which we flag above as likely misplaced. Jazz does not say how a Postpay deposit is refunded. We did not convert a number for this article.
