Block a Lost or Stolen SIM on Jazz, Zong, Telenor or Ufone and Keep Your Number
Block a lost or stolen SIM on Jazz, Zong, Telenor or Ufone today. See each code and helpline, the 24 hour rule and how to get the same number back. Start now.

Lost your SIM or phone? Block the SIM now. On Jazz, dial *8822# from any Jazz number or call 111. On Zong, call 310 from a Zong number or (051) 111-222-111 from any phone. On Ufone, call 333 from a Ufone number or 033-11-333-100. Blocking keeps your number, and a replacement SIM brings it back.
The handset is the expensive part, but the SIM is the dangerous part. Whoever holds your SIM can receive the one time codes that open your bank app, your JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet and your WhatsApp. So the SIM gets blocked first, then everything else. We read each network's own help pages on 9 October 2026 to set out the codes, the numbers and what a replacement costs.
Block the SIM in the first few minutes
Use a family member's phone and call your network's helpline, or on Jazz use the *8822# code. Ask for the SIM to be blocked, not closed. A block stops the SIM working but keeps the number yours, so you can get it back on a new SIM.
| Network | How to block a lost SIM | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Jazz | Dial *8822# from any Jazz number, or call 111 | Free, immediate |
| Zong | Call 310 from a Zong number, or (051) 111-222-111 from any network | Not stated |
| Ufone | Call 333 from a Ufone number, or 033-11-333-100 (UAN and WhatsApp) | Not stated |
| Telenor | Telenor helpline, widely reported as 345 from a Telenor number | Not confirmed |
Jazz's own help page says a Jazz SIM block through *8822# or 111 is free and takes effect immediately, and you can do it from any Jazz number, not only your own. So a friend's or relative's Jazz phone works.
Telenor's website refused our requests, so we could not confirm its helpline on Telenor's own page. The number 345 is widely given for Telenor customers. Check it on your Telenor SIM pack or bill if you still have one.
Speed matters for a legal reason as well. Zong's terms, which follow PTA's SIM rules, say you must ask the operator to block a lost or stolen SIM immediately and no later than 24 hours. Otherwise you may not be cleared of liability if the SIM is used in a crime.
Lock down your money and accounts next
After the SIM block, call your bank and your mobile wallet to freeze them, then change the passwords of email and social accounts that use your number. A blocked SIM stops new codes, but anyone who already opened your phone may have seen old ones.
- Block the SIM with your network, as above. Write down the reference number.
- Call your bank's helpline and ask them to block your cards and app login.
- Call JazzCash or Easypaisa and ask them to block the wallet linked to the number.
- Change your email password first, because it resets everything else.
- Once your number is back on a new SIM, set up WhatsApp on a new phone. That signs the lost phone out.
If money has already left your wallet, the deadlines for getting your money back after an unauthorised Easypaisa or JazzCash transfer are short, so report the same day.
The handset itself is a separate step. PTA can block a stolen phone by its IMEI number so it cannot be used on any Pakistani network, and the steps to block a lost or stolen phone in Pakistan cover the PTA form and the police report.
Get the same number back on a new SIM
Visit your network's franchise or service centre with your original CNIC. After a fingerprint check, they issue a replacement SIM on your old number. Jazz charges Rs 550 and Zong Rs 400. Only the person whose CNIC the SIM is registered on can collect it.
| Network | Replacement SIM charge | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Jazz | Rs 550, prepaid or postpaid | Your presence and fingerprint check |
| Zong | Rs 400 ("Change of SIM") | CNIC and fingerprint check |
| Ufone | Not published on Ufone's site | CNIC and fingerprint check |
| Telenor | Could not confirm | CNIC and fingerprint check |
Jazz says its replacement is issued and activated immediately after the fingerprint check. Once the new SIM is working, your old SIM card stays dead even if somebody finds it.
If the SIM is registered on a parent's or spouse's CNIC, that person has to come to the counter. This catches many families out. Each network has its own rules for a Jazz duplicate SIM, a Zong duplicate SIM, a Telenor duplicate SIM and a Ufone duplicate SIM.
Found the SIM after blocking it?
On Jazz, you can lift the block yourself. Dial *8822# again and follow the steps to restore the number, or call 111. Jazz says this is free and immediate. On other networks, call the same helpline you used to block it and ask for the block to be removed.
Do not leave a blocked number unused for months. Jazz says a prepaid number has to be used within 90 days of its last charged activity, such as a call, an SMS or data use, or it may be given to a new customer. Zong's terms set 180 days of inactivity before it can reissue a number.
Planning to travel and want to pause a Jazz number on purpose? Jazz offers a voluntary block for up to 90 days through 111 for prepaid, 777 for postpaid, or a Jazz centre. After that the same 90 day rule applies. The full picture on reactivating an expired SIM explains what happens once a number is reissued.
Stop the next theft from costing you as much
A SIM PIN stops a thief from moving your SIM into another phone and reading your codes. Set one today. It takes two minutes and costs nothing. Two-step verification on WhatsApp adds a second lock that a SIM alone cannot open.
The steps to lock your SIM with a PIN work on every network. Keep your PUK code written somewhere safe, away from the phone, because three wrong PIN entries lock the SIM.
Also beware of callers who pretend to be your network after a theft. They may say they are "helping you block the SIM" and ask for the code that has just arrived on your new SIM. A real network never asks for that. The guide to telecom helplines that are real shows how this scam works.
Common questions
What is the code to block a stolen Jazz SIM?
Dial *8822# from any Jazz number and follow the steps, or call 111. Jazz says it is free and the block is immediate.
How do I block my Zong SIM from another network?
Call Zong's UAN, (051) 111-222-111. From a Zong number, call 310. Ask for the SIM to be blocked and keep the reference number.
Will I lose my number if I block my SIM?
No. Blocking keeps the number registered to you. You get it back on a replacement SIM after a fingerprint check at a franchise.
How much does a replacement SIM cost?
Jazz charges Rs 550 and Zong Rs 400, according to their own pages. Ufone and Telenor did not show a price on pages we could read.
Can someone else collect my replacement SIM?
No. The person whose CNIC the SIM is registered on must be present for the fingerprint check.
How fast must I report a lost SIM?
Immediately, and no later than 24 hours, under the SIM terms Zong publishes. Otherwise you may be held responsible if the SIM is misused.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 9 October 2026. Sources: Jazz FAQs and Jazz's self-service dial code list, Zong's contact, complaints, SIM price and PTA terms pages, and Ufone's support page. Telenor's website refused our requests, so its helpline and charges are marked as not confirmed. We did not block or replace a SIM ourselves.
