How to get a Zong duplicate SIM in Pakistan

A Zong duplicate SIM costs Rs 400, which Zong lists as "Change of SIM" on its SIM price page. An eSIM replacement costs Rs 1,500. The registered owner must go in person with an original, valid CNIC and pass a thumb check that Zong sends to NADRA. If your SIM was lost or stolen, block it first by calling 310 from another Zong phone or 051-111-222-111 from any network. Zong's terms ask you to report a lost SIM within 24 hours.

We read Zong's SIM price page, its PTA terms and conditions page, its contact page and its deceased owner page on 22 September 2026. Some websites still give the fee as Rs 150 to Rs 300. That does not match what Zong now publishes.

What a Zong duplicate SIM costs

Zong SIM fees: change of SIM Rs 400, eSIM Rs 1,500, new prepaid SIM Rs 300

These are the charges on zong.com.pk/sim-price on 22 September 2026:

ServiceZong price
Change of SIM (duplicate on the same number)Rs 400
eSIMRs 1,500
New prepaid SIMRs 300
New data SIMRs 300
Switching to Zong from another network (MNP)Free

PTA has capped the eSIM charge at Rs 1,500, which matches Zong's figure.

Block the lost SIM first

If your phone is lost or stolen, the duplicate can wait an hour. Blocking cannot. Whoever holds your SIM can receive your bank and wallet OTPs.

Zong's terms say that if a SIM is lost or stolen, the customer must ask Zong to block it at once, and not later than 24 hours. If you do not, you may not be cleared of liability if the SIM is used for a crime.

  1. Borrow any phone.
  2. Call 310 from a Zong number, or 051-111-222-111 from any other network. Both are on Zong's contact page.
  3. Ask to block your number because the SIM is lost or stolen.
  4. Answer the questions that confirm you are the owner.
  5. Write down the time and any reference number you are given.

A temporary block is different from closing a Zong number for good. You want the temporary block.

How to get the duplicate SIM

Steps to get a Zong duplicate SIM at a service centre or franchise

Zong's terms say a duplicate SIM follows the same procedure as a new SIM. That means a thumb check sent to NADRA.

  1. Find a Zong service centre or franchise. Zong's contact page links to both lists.
  2. Take your original CNIC. It must be valid. A photocopy is not enough.
  3. Ask for a change of SIM on your number. Say whether you want a normal SIM or an eSIM.
  4. Give your thumb impression. The staff send it with your CNIC number to NADRA.
  5. Pay the fee. Rs 400 for a SIM, Rs 1,500 for an eSIM.
  6. Test the new SIM before you leave. Make a call and send an SMS.

For an eSIM, Zong hands you a voucher with a QR code. You scan it in your phone's mobile network settings while connected to WiFi. Zong says the QR code can be scanned again if you change phones, and that you should never share it with anyone.

How to confirm it worked

  • The new SIM shows signal and your old number. Dial *8#, which Zong's own help pages list for showing a Zong number.
  • The old SIM, if you find it, no longer works.
  • OTPs from your bank arrive on the new SIM. Test one before you need it.
  • Your balance and any bundle are still there. Check the balance on *222#, the balance code on Zong's payment methods page.

When the owner cannot come in

The SIM is in someone else's name. The thumb check has to match the registered owner, so that person must come. If you are not sure whose name the SIM is in, check the SIMs on your CNIC.

The owner has died. Zong says relatives can now take over a deceased family member's SIM under PTA rules. Its page lists these documents for a Zong Sales and Service Centre:

  • Original death certificate from NADRA or the union council.
  • Original Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
  • The applicant's valid CNIC. An expired CNIC is not accepted.
  • The deceased person's SIM, or an original FIR stating the SIM is lost, with the number written on it.
  • A signed company NOC from the applicant.

Zong's page also mentions a succession certificate and an NOC from other legal heirs where there is more than one. Call 310 before you go to check which set your centre wants.

The NADRA thumb check fails. Zong's terms say the seller must tell you why, and that you may have to contact NADRA yourself. This often happens with worn fingerprints. Try other fingers, and ask the staff which options they have.

Do not wait too long

Zong's terms say a number that stays inactive for 180 days can be disconnected and given to another customer. A blocked SIM that is never replaced may reach that point. Once your number goes to someone else, your OTPs go with it, and you can no longer reactivate the expired SIM.

Never give your CNIC photo, OTP or eSIM QR code to someone who calls saying they will "replace your SIM from home". Zong's process needs your thumb at a counter. A caller cannot do it for you.
