Check an Agricultural Dealer's Licence in Balochistan Before You Buy Seed or Fertiliser
The Balochistan Kissan portal lists dealer licence, status and expiry by district but gave no rows for five districts we tried. See what to check in person.

Short answer: Open balochistankissan.gob.pk, go to Dealers, pick your district and press Filter. The table should show each dealer's type, name, licence number, Active or Inactive status and expiry date. On 12 October 2026 the list came back empty for the districts we tried, so also ask the dealer for the licence and confirm it at your district Agriculture office.
A bag of seed or fertiliser is a season's money. A farmer who buys from a shop without a licence has no one to complain to when the seed does not grow. Balochistan's Agriculture Extension department keeps a public dealer list on its Kissan portal for exactly this check.
We opened the portal's Dealers, Distributors and Market Rates pages on 12 October 2026 and read how each one works. We also sent the dealer list the same request the page sends for five districts. Here is what we found, including the part that did not work.
The dealer page lists licence, status and expiry for each shop
The Dealers page asks you to select a district and press Filter. Its table has eight columns: dealer type, name, contact, CNIC, district, licence number, status and expiry date. Status shows as Active or Inactive. An expired licence should show a past date.
Dealer type is one of five groups: pesticides, fertilizers, machinery, seed and weedicide. A shop can sell several things, so look for the group that matches what you are buying. A seed licence does not cover a pesticide.
| Column | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Type | Matches what you are buying |
| Name and CNIC | Matches the owner you are dealing with |
| Licence number | Matches the number shown in the shop |
| Status | Shows Active, not Inactive |
| Expiry date | Is a future date |

The list returned no dealers for the districts we tried
When we sent the page's own request for Quetta, Lasbela, Naseerabad, Zhob and Awaran, the answer held zero pesticide, fertiliser, machinery, seed and weedicide dealers. The page would show "No dealers found for this district". We cannot say whether the list is empty or still being filled.

That matters. An empty result does not mean a shop is illegal, and it does not mean it is legal. It means the portal cannot answer your question today. Do not buy on the strength of "I looked and found nothing wrong". Use the next section.
The Distributors page is separate. It lists suppliers by product type, with name, contact, district and address, plus a total for each of the five product groups. It loads all of Balochistan at once, with no district filter.
Ask for the licence and write down five details
A licensed dealer can show you the licence number and expiry date. Ask to see it. Note the dealer's name, licence number, product name, batch number and the date. Ask for a receipt that names the product and quantity. Keep the empty bag.
- Ask the dealer to show the licence and read the number and expiry date.
- Search your district on the Dealers page and look for the same name and number.
- If the list is empty, call the district Agriculture (Extension) office and read out the number.
- Take a receipt that lists the product, batch and quantity.
- Keep the bag, the tag and the receipt until the crop is harvested.
- If the seed or fertiliser fails, file a complaint on the portal with these papers.

Fertiliser sales are tied to the Benazir Kissan Card in some districts
The portal's home page says a fertiliser ban was lifted in Lasbela and Naseerabad, with each transaction made through PTTS login and sales only to registered farmers. The page says the ban remains in all other districts. We could not read the full PDF order.
In practice this means a dealer in those two districts may ask for your Benazir Kissan Card registration before selling. If you are not registered, our guide on how to check your Benazir Kissan Card registration status shows the steps. Buying through an unofficial channel can leave you with no receipt on the system.
For wheat sowing, fertiliser prices have been high. Our latest price check found DAP at Rs 17,128 a bag and urea at Rs 4,780 as national averages. Use these only as a rough guide to what is fair. Balochistan district prices can differ.
How to file a complaint about a dealer
The portal has Register Complaint and Track Complaint pages. File one with the dealer's name, licence number, product, batch and receipt. Note the complaint number and follow it on the Track Complaint page. You can also call the helpline, 0311-1333294.
The department's address is the Directorate General Agriculture Extension, near Sariab Police Station, Sariab Road, Quetta, and its email is dgagriextqta@gmail.com. We have not tested how fast complaints are answered, so we make no promise on timing.
Farmers in Punjab have a different route, with its own helpline and lab tests. That is explained in our guide on how to report fake fertiliser or pesticide in Punjab. The Balochistan portal does not use it.
Common questions
Where can I check a dealer's licence in Balochistan?
On the Dealers page of balochistankissan.gob.pk. Select your district, press Filter and look for the licence number, status and expiry date.
What does Inactive mean on the dealer list?
The portal shows a red Inactive tag for any dealer whose record is not marked active. It does not explain the term, so ask the district office why before you buy.
The dealer list is empty for my district. What now?
Ask the dealer for the licence, then call the district Agriculture (Extension) office and read the number out. The empty list is a gap in the portal, not proof either way.
Which product groups does the dealer list cover?
Pesticides, fertilizers, machinery, seed and weedicide. Choose the group that matches your purchase.
Do I need the Benazir Kissan Card to buy fertiliser?
In Lasbela and Naseerabad, where the portal says the ban was lifted, sales are only to registered farmers. Other districts remain under the ban, according to the home page.
Can I check market rates on the same portal?
Yes. The Market Rates page lets you select a district and press Filter to see commodity prices. We did not check how often it is updated.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Dealers, Distributors, Market Rates and home pages of balochistankissan.gob.pk on 12 October 2026. We sent the dealer list's own request for five districts and each returned no rows. We did not read the fertiliser ban PDF as text, and we did not test the complaint pages.
