Check the Next Games After the Asian Games: Dakar Youth Olympics From 31 October and Asian Indoor Games in December
See the next multi-sport Games after the Asian Games: the Dakar Youth Olympics from 31 October, the Asian Indoor Games in December and LA28, and what to check.
Short answer: The Youth Olympic Games in Dakar run from 31 October to 13 November 2026, says the IOC. The Pakistan Olympic Association lists the same start but a 14 November end. Its calendar also shows the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games on 13 to 20 December 2026, then LA28 in July 2028.
The Asian Games ended on 4 October with 10 medals for Pakistan, and the Asian Para Games start on 18 October. After that the next big events come quickly. Parents, coaches and fans keep asking what is next and whether Pakistan will be there.
We read the Pakistan Olympic Association's calendar of activities and the IOC's Dakar 2026 page on 14 October 2026. We could not find any official list of Pakistan's entries for the two events below. This page gives dates and what to check, and does not claim Pakistan is competing.
The POA calendar lists the next Games
The Pakistan Olympic Association is Pakistan's National Olympic Committee, formed in 1948. Its calendar of activities lists Milano Cortina 2026, the Asian Beach Games, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Asian Games, the Youth Olympic Games, an Asian indoor games and LA28.
| Event | Dates on the POA calendar |
|---|---|
| 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya | 19 September to 4 October 2026 |
| Youth Olympic Games, Dakar | 31 October to 14 November 2026 |
| 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games | 13 to 20 December 2026 |
| Olympic Games, Los Angeles | 14 to 30 July 2028 |
The same calendar shows events that have already finished, such as the Asian Beach Games on 22 to 30 April and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on 23 July to 2 August 2026. We left those out of the table because they are in the past.
Sources differ on the Dakar end date
The IOC's Dakar 2026 page says the Youth Olympic Games take place from 31 October to 13 November 2026. The POA calendar says 31 October to 14 November. We use the IOC dates as the first choice and note the difference, because a closing day matters for travel.
The IOC calls Dakar 2026 the first Olympic sports event on African soil. Youth Olympic Games are for young athletes, so most of the usual senior stars are not involved. The IOC page also presents the event as a platform for cultural exchange.
We could not confirm Pakistan's team for Dakar from the POA page. Do not book travel or tell a young athlete they are selected until the POA or the national federation says so in writing.
Why does the gap matter? A federation needs time to hold trials, choose a squad, arrange visas and file paperwork. Eight to ten weeks is a normal planning window for a trip abroad, so a team heading to Dakar needed to be chosen already, and a team for the December Games needs a decision very soon.
The Asian indoor games come in December
The POA calendar lists the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games for 13 to 20 December 2026. It names no host city and no sports list, and we did not find either on the sources we read, so the programme and Pakistan's entries are open questions.
For now the best guide is recent form. The Pakistan teams that earned medals at the Asian Games, 10 in all with 2 silver and 8 bronze, are listed in the final Asian Games medal tally, which is a useful guide to where Pakistan is strong.
LA28 is the long-term target
The Los Angeles Olympics run from 14 to 30 July 2028. Two Pakistani routes are already clear: cricket and hockey both have qualification paths. Our guides show how the men's cricket route and the hockey qualifier work.
The money side is also set. The cash awards for medals at major Games are explained in our page on Asian Games medal cash awards, and a team needs the Pakistan Sports Board's permission to travel abroad, so a federation must plan early.
How to check if Pakistan is sending a team
- Open the POA website and read the news and the calendar of activities.
- Look at the page of the national sports federation for your sport.
- Check the host event's own site for the entry list and the sports.
- Ask the federation for written confirmation of selection.
- Watch for the PSB no objection certificate before any travel is booked.
The list of national sports federations helps you find the right office. For another near-term event, the Asian Para Games contingent has 16 members in four sports.
