For May and June, the SBP archive no longer links a sheet for the last working day, so we used the latest sheet it does link: 19 May and 29 June. Every other row is the month's last working day. The daily figures for last month are in the October dollar rate history.

SBP dollar rate in Pakistan at the end of each month of 2026, falling from Rs 280.12 to Rs 276.71

The rupee gained Rs 3.41 against the dollar in 2026

From Rs 280.1231 on 31 December 2025 to Rs 276.7137 on 3 November 2026, the rupee gained Rs 3.41 against the dollar. That is a gain of about 1.2%. It came as a slow, even climb rather than a jump.

A slow climb like this is unusual for the rupee, which has a long record of sharp falls. The SBP buys dollars in the interbank market to build its reserves, which it explained for the last financial year in its $8.1 billion of interbank purchases. The SBP has not said it targets any rate, and we do not claim it does. We only record what its own sheets show.

What a stronger rupee means for your money

A rupee that gains slowly makes dollar costs a little cheaper and dollar income a little smaller. On $500, the difference between January and November is about Rs 1,705. That is small, but it adds up for anyone who pays or earns in dollars every month.

Who you areWhat changed in 2026Example
Family receiving dollars from abroadEach dollar buys fewer rupees$500 fell from Rs 140,062 to Rs 138,357
Student paying a fee in dollarsThe fee costs slightly less in rupeesA $1,000 fee is Rs 3,409 cheaper
Freelancer paid in dollarsEach payment converts to fewer rupees$2,000 a month brings Rs 6,819 less
Importer or shop selling imported goodsLanded cost in rupees eased a littleRs 3.41 less per dollar of goods
Saver holding a dollar accountThe account lost about 1.2% in rupee terms$1,000 is worth Rs 3,409 less in rupees

Rupee savings still earned far more than that 1.2% loss. Bank savings rates are linked to the SBP policy rate, which rose to 12% on 27 October, as set out in the SBP rate rise. That is part of why holding rupees has paid better than holding dollars this year. If you still want dollars, the rules for a foreign currency account are in opening a dollar account in Pakistan.

The euro fell much more than the dollar

The euro dropped from Rs 328.85 at the end of 2025 to Rs 309.78 on 3 November 2026, a fall of Rs 19.07 or 5.8%. It peaked at Rs 333.99 in January. Most of that move came from the euro weakening against the dollar, not from the rupee.

For a student paying a €10,000 fee in Germany or Italy, that drop is worth about Rs 190,700 compared with January's start. Pound and Gulf currency rates for the same months are listed in the riyal, dirham and pound rates for 2026.

How to find the SBP dollar rate for any date

The SBP publishes its rate sheets free on its website for every working day. You do not need an account. These steps take about two minutes.

  1. Open sbp.org.pk. Today's dollar rate is on the home page under "USD/PKR Rates".
  2. For another day, open Financial Markets, then Financial Market Data.
  3. Find "Mark to Market Revaluation Exchange Rate" and click its archive link.
  4. Pick the date you need. The sheet opens as a PDF with more than 30 currencies.
  5. Read the "READY" column. That is the day's rate. The other columns are forward rates.

The monthly changes, the percentages and the rupee examples are our own arithmetic. We did not check any bank's or exchange company's counter rate.
