Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged - Government Surprise in Ramzan

The Government of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif administration is keeping fuel prices unchanged exactly where they are for the next two weeks in Ramzan. The main plan is to help people weather the effects of fluctuating global oil costs without touching petroleum rates. Instead, the government is dialing down electricity tariffs to offer some financial breathing room for the public.

  • Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO): Rs. 168.12 per liter
  • Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Rs. 153.34 per liter

Lower Power Tariffs Instead of Rise From Government

Government officials say’s that cutting electricity costs is more in benefits for the people than making small tweaks to fuel prices. By directing these savings into electricity bill, the government hope to lower the burden on everyday families all across Pakistan.

For now, the plan is to keep petroleum prices put and electricity rates lowered in an effort to stabilize household daily and monthly expenses at least for the next 2 weeks. Any fresh decisions about fuel or power rates will likely come in a couple of weeks before or after Eid-ul-Fitr, so stay tuned for updates.
