Short answer: PMD's National Agromet Centre publishes free farm weather advice at weather.gov.pk/namc. It has a tehsil level forecast, weekly and monthly bulletins, a seven day crop advisory for South Punjab, crop calendars for five regions, and a newsletter you can join. On 14 October 2026 its Pothohar forecast said 15 to 17 October would stay dry.

A farmer deciding when to irrigate, spray or pick cotton needs a forecast for his own tehsil. A national headline that says "rain in upper Punjab" is not enough. PMD runs a farming desk that does this work, and it sits one click from the main weather site.

We opened the National Agromet Centre (NAMC) pages on 14 October 2026 and read the products that were live that day. This guide shows what each one gives you and how to reach it. We are not farm advisers, so we report what PMD says and name the source.

The NAMC site gathers PMD's farm products in one place

The National Agromet Centre page lists its products in a menu: bulletins, monthly agri advisory, tehsil forecast, a South Punjab advisory, seasonal outlook, crop report, crop calendar, rainfall trends and impact based forecasts. A newsletter box is on the subscribe page.

PMD describes the centre as one that offers weather forecasts, crop advisories and climate data to support farm decisions. The centre's pages also show weather readings from its agromet station network.

The tehsil forecast starts from your district

The tehsil forecast page asks you to choose a district, then shows the tehsils and their stations. It is the closest PMD product to a forecast for your own fields. The page showed a last update of 12 October 2026 at 10:56.

The Pothohar impact based forecast, dated 14 October, covered Islamabad and the tehsils of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal districts. It said 15 to 17 October would be dry and partly cloudy. Maximum temperatures were 26 to 28 degrees in Rawalpindi District, 27 to 29 in Attock and Chakwal, 28 to 30 in Jhelum and 15 to 17 in Murree.

Use the tehsil view when you plan a spray. A pesticide applied before rain is washed away, and PMD's tehsil forecast tells you which day is dry.

The Multan advisory gives crop advice for the week

PMD's South Punjab page is run as a joint project with a Multan agricultural university. It pairs a seven day forecast for Multan with crop advice. For 12 to 18 October it showed night lows of 22 to 26 degrees and daytime highs of 30 to 33 degrees.

The advisory issued for 12 to 14 October gave these points on three crops.

  • Cotton: stop irrigation, start picking after 10 am once dew has dried, and pick from the bottom of the plant upwards.
  • Sugarcane: keep irrigation to an interval of 20 to 30 days, depending on weather.
  • Mango: irrigate dry orchards and prune so sunlight reaches the inner branches.

The page warns that wet cotton picked early can discolour and harm seed germination. Crop advice is regional, so treat it as a guide and check with your local agriculture office for your own variety and soil.

Crop calendars show when each crop is sown and harvested

NAMC publishes a crop calendar PDF for each region. The Punjab one lists wheat, maize, gram, potato, cotton, rice, sugarcane and mango among its rows, with colours for sowing, growth and harvest. It was prepared with Punjab's crop reporting service.

The chart uses colours, so check it on screen rather than from a text copy. Wheat is the crop on most minds now. For dates, seed and subsidy, see our guide on wheat sowing in Punjab in 2026.

Common questions about PMD's farm weather advice

Is PMD's farm weather advice free?

Yes. The pages we opened needed no login or fee. The newsletter asks only for a name, email, and optionally a phone number and country.

Where is the tehsil forecast?

It is at weather.gov.pk/namc/tehsil-forecast. You choose a district, and the page lists its tehsils and stations.

Is there an advisory in Urdu?

Yes, some products are in Urdu. The monthly agri advisory for October 2026 and the October to December seasonal outlook were posted as Urdu PDFs.

Does it cover every province?

Crop calendars cover five regions. The impact based forecasts we saw cover Pothohar, Lower Sindh and South Punjab only, and the seven day advisory is for South Punjab.

Can I rely on it for spraying or picking dates?

Use it as one input. PMD forecasts can change, so check the page again the day before, and ask your local agriculture office about your own crop.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 14 October 2026. Everything comes from the National Agromet Centre pages on PMD's weather.gov.pk site. We could not read the Urdu PDFs in full, and we did not test how accurate the tehsil forecasts are. Crop advice is regional and dated, so read the date on each advisory. Warnings for severe weather are on NDMA's advisories page.
