ChatGPT GPT-6 Thinking Levels by Plan: What Plus, Pro and Free Users Get in Pakistan
OpenAI's updated help page lists GPT-6 thinking levels by plan: Plus gets Medium and High, Pro gets Extra High and Pro. See what Free, Go and Plus users get.
OpenAI's help page, updated on 22 October 2026, says ChatGPT Plus gets Medium and High thinking on GPT-6, while Extra High and Pro are for Pro, Business and Enterprise plans. Free and Go users get Instant and Think on GPT-5.6 Luna, per that page.
OpenAI changed the model menu in ChatGPT. The old "Latest" choice is now called GPT-6, and a Thinking slider sets how hard the model works. We read the updated help page on 22 October 2026. It also adds a point that matters to buyers in Pakistan: Plus includes GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex, not in ordinary Chat.
GPT-6 in Chat has five levels, and your plan decides which you see
The levels are Instant, Medium, High, Extra High and Pro. OpenAI says GPT-6 Sol powers Instant through Extra High, and Pro uses GPT-6 Pro, which runs on GPT-6 Astra. Which levels appear depends on your plan and workspace.

Free and Go stay on a lighter model, and OpenAI's pages differ on which
The updated help page says Free and Go use GPT-5.6 Luna for Instant and for Think, and have no access to GPT-5.6 Sol. An earlier release note, dated 7 October, said Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna in Chat. We cannot tell which wording is newer in practice.
So the honest reading is that OpenAI's pages differ. What you see in your own model menu is the final word. The free plan and Intelligent UI report is based on the 7 October note. Free and Go still have unlimited everyday text chats, subject to safeguards.
Plus gets Astra in Work and Codex, not in Chat
OpenAI says Plus plans include GPT-6 Astra in ChatGPT Work and Codex. Pro plans include Astra in Chat, Work and Codex. Plus does not get the Pro thinking level in Chat. This differs from older summaries that listed Astra as plain "included" for Plus.
For a student or freelancer, the effect is small. Astra shines on hard code and research tasks, which run in Work and Codex. For writing, summaries and spreadsheets, GPT-6 at High in Chat is the tool. The earlier GPT-6 model line-up by plan explains the three model names.
Instant does not climb the levels on its own on Plus and Pro
On Plus and Pro, OpenAI says Instant does not automatically switch to a higher thinking level, and asking ChatGPT to "think harder" will not change the level either. You pick the level yourself. ChatGPT can still switch automatically for safety reasons.
Business is different. A Higher intelligence setting under Settings, then General, lets Business workspaces allow extra thinking while Instant is selected. That can use up the reasoning allowance, so admins should decide who gets it. See ChatGPT Business seats and limits.
Intelligent UI, the feature that mixes text, visuals and small interactive tools, works from Instant to Extra High. It does not work at the Pro level. It has no usage quota of its own.
What happens when you reach a thinking limit
OpenAI says that if you reach a Thinking limit, ChatGPT may carry on with another available model, and it shows the reset time when it can. On Pro $200, hitting the weekly GPT-6 Pro limit drops you to GPT-5.6 Thinking at Medium.
- Open the model menu and choose GPT-6.
- Move the Thinking slider to the lowest level that gives a good answer.
- Use High for hard questions and Extra High only if your plan has it.
- Read the reset time ChatGPT shows if a limit appears.
- Check Settings, then Usage, before long tasks in Work or Codex.
Message counts for Work and Codex are in GPT-6 usage limits per plan. OpenAI's page gives no count for Chat thinking levels.

Why can I not see GPT-6 in my menu?
OpenAI says GPT-6 is rolling out to eligible paid accounts. It is labelled GPT-6, not Sol. Update the app and check again later.

GPT-6 replaced Latest. Existing Latest choices moved to GPT-6 at the same effort.
Is GPT-6 Pro available on Plus?

Last checked 22 October 2026. We read OpenAI's GPT-6 and other models help page, which showed as updated hours earlier, its ChatGPT release notes and its Business models page. We did not test the levels in an account. The conflict over the Free and Go model is between OpenAI's own pages, and we could not resolve it.
