You check a Hyderabad water bill on HWSC's bill portal, bill.hwsc.gos.pk, by entering the reference number from your paper bill, with or without dashes. The Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HWSC) also takes complaints on 1139, around the clock, and new connection requests through a form on its website.

HWSC runs water supply and sewerage for Hyderabad, Sindh, from its office at Civic Center, Thandi Sarak. We read its website and bill portal on 28 October 2026. Below is how the bill lookup works, which number format to type, what to do when it says "no connection found", and how to apply for a new connection.

The bill portal takes your old or new reference number

HWSC's portal asks for one thing: your reference number. Its help note says the old reference number is printed on your previous paper bill, and the new format looks like 00-00-0000000-0. You can type it with or without dashes; both work the same way.

What you haveWhat to type
An old paper billThe old reference number printed on it
A new style billThe new reference in the format 00-00-0000000-0
A number with dashesType it as it is, or drop the dashes
No bill at allVisit HWSC's head office with your CNIC and address

Once found, the portal shows both the new reference and the old reference for the connection. Note them both, because older receipts and newer bills may use different ones.

Check your Hyderabad water bill in five steps

The lookup takes about a minute on a phone. HWSC's site describes the portal as the place to view, download and print current and previous water bills.

  1. Open bill.hwsc.gos.pk in your phone or computer browser.
  2. Type your reference number from the paper bill, with or without dashes.
  3. Submit and wait for the connection details to load.
  4. Check the new and old reference numbers and the bill shown.
  5. Download or print the duplicate bill for payment.

The portal has a limit on repeated tries. If you search too often in a short time, it shows "Too many requests. Please wait a moment and try again." Wait a minute before the next try.

Steps to check a Hyderabad water bill on the HWSC bill portal

"No connection found" usually means a wrong number

The portal replies "No connection found for the given reference number. Please check and try again." when it cannot match what you typed. The usual cause is a mistyped digit or mixing up the old and new formats.

Try the other format from an older bill. If both fail, HWSC's help note says to visit the nearest HWSC head office. Take a past bill or receipt, your CNIC and the property address. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, on (022) 9200757.

Pay at the office, a bank or an app

HWSC lists four ways to pay: at its office during business hours, at authorised bank branches, through online banking and mobile apps, and at payment counters across the city. It does not name the banks or apps on the page we read.

Use the reference number from the portal when paying through an app, and keep the receipt. If a payment does not show on the next bill, take the receipt to HWSC's office. Payment errors on other utilities follow a similar fix, set out in fixing a paid bill that shows unpaid.

Complain on 1139 or through the website form

HWSC's 24 hour helpline is 1139. The website also has a complaint form with categories for water supply, sewerage, billing, leakage, water quality and other issues. HWSC says it acknowledges every complaint within 24 hours and aims to fix it in 3 to 5 working days.

After you submit, HWSC says you receive a complaint number, which you use to follow up through the helpline. The website form asks for your name, phone number, complaint category, address and details. On the page we read, the form sends entries to a Google Form, so keep your own note of what you sent.

A new connection needs four documents and 15 to 30 working days

HWSC's new connection form takes domestic, commercial and industrial requests, for regular or bulk supply. It asks for the owner's name, an 11 digit phone number, a 13 digit CNIC, the town, union council or mohalla, building type, address, a nearby landmark and a map pin.

The form covers five towns: Latifabad, Qasimabad, Hyderabad City, Hussainabad and Cantonment. HWSC lists the required documents as an original CNIC, ownership documents, a utility bill copy and a site plan. It says normal applications take 15 to 30 working days. No fee is printed on the form page.

The general rules for water connections across Pakistan are in getting a new water connection. For Karachi, the water utility is different, and its bill steps are in KWSC water bill check online. Other cities are covered in WASA bill check by city, and Hyderabad's electricity bill is in HESCO bill check online.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 28 October 2026. We read HWSC's home page and its new connection page on hwsc.gos.pk, and the bill portal at bill.hwsc.gos.pk, including the help text and error messages built into it. We did not enter a real reference number, submit a complaint or apply for a connection, so we cannot confirm what the bill page looks like for a live account or whether any connection fee applies.
