How to Check Your WASA Water Bill Online, City by City

We tested every WASA portal. The working link for each city, the account number format each one wants, and the addresses that no longer exist.

How to check a WASA water bill online in Pakistan

Water bills are the hardest utility bill in Pakistan to check online, and not because the portals are complicated. It is because the addresses people share have moved, and several of them no longer exist at all.

We opened every one on 24 August 2026. Here is what works.

CityWhere to checkWhat it asks for
Lahorecms.wasalhr.pk, the Duplicate Bill searchBill account number
Rawalpindiwasarwp.gop.pkOne letter then digits, up to 10
Faisalabadwasafaisalabad.gop.pk, duplicate billWASA account number
Gujranwalaonlinebill.wasagujranwala.gop.pkSix digits, like 000000
Multancms.wasamultan.gop.pk, online billThree digits, slash, six digits
KarachiNo bill page on the KWSC website at all. See below.

Note the .gop.pk in several of those. It is not a typo for .gov.pk. Some Punjab agencies genuinely sit on .gop.pk, which is one reason people mistype these and land somewhere else.

Three WASA addresses no longer exist

WASA web addresses that no longer exist

This is the reason most people give up.

wasa.lhr.gop.pk and wasalahore.com.pk are both gone. They are still shared in groups and still printed on other sites, but the domain name system returns non-existent domain for each. That is stronger than a page being slow or refusing us. No address is published for them at all.

The third one is the awkward one. duplicatebill.wasalhr.punjab.gov.pk is also dead, and it is still linked from WASA Lahore's own billing page, right next to the link that works.

So a Lahore resident does everything right, goes to the official website, clicks Duplicate Bills, gets nothing, and reasonably concludes the service is broken. It is not. The working address is cms.wasalhr.pk, which is linked from the same page.

We checked each of these two ways, by request and by DNS lookup, because a single failed request is never enough to call something dead.

Getting the account number format right

Account number formats for each WASA billing portal

Every portal wants a different shape, and none of them explains it well. These come from each site's own form, so they are what the box will actually accept.

Rawalpindi is the strictest and the least documented. Its form takes one letter followed by digits, no more than ten characters in total, and it converts what you type to capitals automatically. If your number starts with a digit, you are looking at the wrong number on the bill.

Multan wants the slash. The format is three digits, a forward slash, then six digits. Leaving the slash out is the commonest reason a Multan lookup fails.

Gujranwala shows its own example as six digits. It will also accept a registration number in the same box.

Lahore and Faisalabad just ask for the account number as printed.

In every case, take the number off an old paper bill rather than from memory. Water account numbers are not the same as your electricity reference number, and they are not derived from your CNIC.

Karachi is different, and the website will not help

KWSC, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, is the one genuine gap.

Its website at kwsc.gos.pk is a modern site and it works. But there is no billing page anywhere in it. We went through its entire set of pages: about, achievements, careers, contact, education, FAQs, news, leadership, services, portfolio, right to information, tenders, water today, what we do and work with us. No bill check, no bill download, no payment.

Its services page does say KWSC offers "online billing" and "multiple payment options". It simply does not say where.

We also tried the obvious separate addresses a billing system usually sits on. None of them exists.

The bills are in an app. The current one is KWSC Unified, and its own description covers viewing and paying bills, requesting and tracking water tankers, and submitting complaints. It was updated on 12 August 2026 and holds about 4.2 stars from 127 ratings.

Check the app before you install it

This matters more than it sounds, because searching an app store for KWSC returns three different apps from three different sellers, and only one of them is current.

AppPublished byLast updated
KWSC UnifiedASANI.IO (Private) Limited12 August 2026
KWSC CustomerAn individual sellerSeptember 2024
Kwsc TrackingITECKNOLOGI Private LimitedSeptember 2024

We are not going to tell you which of those is official, because we cannot prove it and KWSC's website links none of them. We will tell you what is checkable.

  1. Look at the seller name, not the app name. Anybody can call an app KWSC.
  2. Look at the last updated date. A utility app untouched since 2024 is not running your live billing.
  3. Look at the rating and the number of ratings. One of the three sits at about 1.3 stars from three people.
  4. Be wary of a placeholder package name. One of these has an app identifier beginning com.example, which is the default left in place by app-building templates.
  5. Never enter a CNIC or a card into an app you cannot trace to the utility. Checking a bill should not require either.

Punjab has its own app too, published under the name Punjab WASA and updated in March 2026. Worth knowing what it is for: its description covers registering and tracking complaints only. It does not mention bills, so for a bill you still want the city portal above.

Paying it once you have it

Checking and paying are separate steps, and the portals above mostly do the first only.

WASA Lahore states that bills can be paid at the cash counter of a range of banks, and that WASA bills can now be paid through the 1-Link Bill Payment System. That is the network behind most bank apps in Pakistan, so in practice your existing banking app is the easiest route.

The same principle applies to other utilities. If the bill itself has gone missing rather than the website, the duplicate is free and quick, and we cover that for power and gas in lost your bill, the duplicate is free.

If you are setting up water at a new property rather than chasing an existing bill, the connection process is a different one, and we set it out in applying for a new water connection.

When the portal says nothing found

Before assuming the system is down, three things account for most failures.

The format. A missing slash in Multan or a dropped leading letter in Rawalpindi returns nothing at all rather than a helpful error.

Spaces. Copying a number off a photo of a bill often brings a trailing space with it. Delete it and try again.

The wrong number entirely. A water bill carries more than one reference. The one the portal wants is the account or consumer number, not the meter number and not the challan number on the payment stub.

If it still fails, the complaint route is worth using rather than repeating the search. For a government body that is not responding, the Pakistan Citizen's Portal is the general escalation.

What we could not verify

We do not have a WASA account in any of these cities. So we could not type a real account number in and see a bill come back.

Every format above is taken from the portal's own form, its field validation, its label or its placeholder text. That tells you what the box will accept. It does not prove the lookup then succeeds.

We have not reproduced tariffs. They differ by city, by connection size and by property type, and we did not read every schedule.

We cannot confirm which Karachi app is the official one. KWSC's website links none of them, which is the underlying problem.

WASA Faisalabad describes its own site as a beta version, so treat that one as more likely to change than the others.

These addresses move. That is the entire lesson of this page: three of them have already moved, and one dead link is still published by the agency itself.

Questions readers are asking

How do I check my WASA bill online in Lahore?

Use the Duplicate Bill search at cms.wasalhr.pk and enter your bill account number. The other Lahore link on the official site is dead.

Why does the WASA Lahore duplicate bill link not open?

Because the address it points to no longer exists. WASA Lahore publishes two links and only one of them works. Use cms.wasalhr.pk.

What is the WASA Rawalpindi account number format?

One letter followed by digits, ten characters at most. The form capitalises it for you.

What format does WASA Multan want?

Three digits, a slash, then six digits. Leaving out the slash is the usual reason a search returns nothing.

How do I check a KWSC water bill in Karachi?

Not on the website, which has no billing page. KWSC bills are handled through its app.

Is wasa.lhr.gop.pk still working?

No. That domain no longer exists, and neither does wasalahore.com.pk. Both are still widely shared.

Can I pay a WASA bill through my bank app?

WASA Lahore says its bills can be paid through the 1-Link system, which is what most bank apps use, as well as at bank cash counters.
