Jazz's eSIM page now gives the eSIM charge as Rs 1,500, excluding standard number charges. You get it at a Jazz Experience Centre, franchise or eligible retailer after a fingerprint check, then scan a QR code, and the eSIM is active within about 5 minutes. That price matters because two other Jazz help pages still print Rs 2,000, and one says Rs 5,000 for a new number. Below is the full process, the phones Jazz names, the PTA step that stops your phone being blocked, and what to say at the counter if you are quoted more.

We read Jazz's eSIM page, FAQ page and Process Help Center on 24 October 2026. When we read the same eSIM page on 19 October 2026, it said Rs 2,000. We did not convert a SIM ourselves.

Jazz's own pages give three different eSIM prices

The eSIM page says Rs 1,500. The Process Help Center says Rs 2,000 for both a new and an existing number. The FAQ says Rs 2,000 for an existing number and Rs 5,000 for a new one. The eSIM page is the newest and matches PTA's reported cap.

PTA's eSIM policy, as reported in August 2026, sets the Rs 1,500 eSIM fee cap and makes the first ten transfers between phones free. Jazz's eSIM page now matches it. Its help pages do not yet.

"Standard number charges" means extra cost for a special number, such as a golden or platinum pattern. Converting the number you already have should not carry one. Jazz does not spell this out, so ask the agent to confirm the total before the fingerprint step.

How to convert a Jazz SIM to an eSIM in 7 steps

Take your CNIC to a Jazz Experience Centre, franchise or eligible retailer, verify by fingerprint, and collect a voucher with a QR code. At home or in the shop, connect the phone to the internet and scan the code under Settings, then Cellular, then Add Cellular Plan.

  1. Check your phone supports eSIM. Look for Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan in settings.
  2. Visit a Jazz Experience Centre, franchise or eligible retailer with your original CNIC.
  3. Give your fingerprint for biometric verification.
  4. Pay the charge and collect the voucher with the QR code. Do not share or photograph it for anyone.
  5. Connect the phone to Wi-Fi or another data connection.
  6. On iPhone, open Settings, Cellular, Add Cellular Plan, and scan the QR code. On Android the menu is usually under SIM manager or Mobile networks.
  7. Wait about 5 minutes for the eSIM to activate, then make a test call.

Jazz says the physical SIM for the same number stops working once the eSIM is active. Your packages, balance and tariff carry across. The empty slot can then take another number. The way you activate an eSIM in Pakistan is much the same on other networks.

Steps to convert a Jazz SIM to an eSIM with the QR code

Register the eSIM IMEI with PTA so the phone is not blocked

An eSIM uses your phone's second IMEI. Jazz tells you to send both IMEIs to 8484 and email screenshots of IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 to typeapproval@pta.gov.pk. Skip it and the eSIM side of a phone can be blocked in PTA's DIRBS system.

DIRBS is PTA's Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System. It checks every IMEI on the network. On a dual SIM phone used with one plastic SIM, the second IMEI may never have been checked. The eSIM puts it to work.

Dial *#06# to see both IMEIs, take a screenshot, and send them as Jazz describes. If your phone was bought abroad or online, check its PTA status before you insert a SIM. A phone with one SIM slot registered and the other not is a common trap.

Jazz names 45 eSIM phones, but the list is dated

Jazz's list includes the iPhone XR and every later iPhone it names up to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air, Google Pixel 3 to Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20, S21, Note 20, Fold and Flip models, and a few Huawei and Oppo phones.

The Samsung and Pixel entries stop years ago, while newer models also support eSIM. Treat the list as a floor, not a limit. The quick check is your own phone's settings: if it offers Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, it supports one.

A factory reset or a lost QR code means a new visit

Jazz says a factory reset removes the eSIM, and you must visit a centre for a new QR code. If you lose the QR code before scanning it, call 111 to deactivate it. Going back to a physical SIM costs the standard SIM change charge.

Jazz's FAQ puts that SIM replacement charge at Rs 550. So moving from eSIM back to a plastic SIM is not free. Jazz also says a QR code can be used again if the eSIM was properly deleted from the old phone, which helps when you change handsets.

Two more rules from Jazz's page. You can store several Jazz eSIMs on one phone, but only one can be active at a time. And the eSIM works on roaming, so the Jazz roaming packages apply the same way.

The eSIM prices for Jazz, Zong and Ufone still differ from page to page.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Jazz's eSIM page, its FAQ page and its Process Help Center on 24 October 2026. The Rs 1,500 price, the activation steps, the 8484 and PTA email step, the phone list, and the reset and QR rules come from the eSIM page. The Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 figures come from the other two pages, and the Rs 550 SIM change charge from the FAQ. Our reading of the eSIM page on 19 October 2026 showed Rs 2,000. PTA's Rs 1,500 cap is reported, because we could not read PTA's notification. We did not convert a SIM ourselves.
