How to Apply for a KP Food Licence Online: KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Steps
Apply for a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa food business licence online: the five portal steps, why each premises needs its own licence and the KPFSHFA helplines to call.

Short answer: In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa you apply for a food business licence online on the KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority e-licence portal, e.kpfsa.gov.pk. Register, add your business details, apply, print the application, and print the licence once it is approved. Each premises needs its own licence.
A bakery owner in Mardan opens a second shop across town. A caterer in Peshawar moves her kitchen. Both hit the same rule: the licence belongs to one premises. The KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFSHFA) says so plainly on its registration page, which we read on 12 October 2026.
Apply online in five steps on the e-licence portal
The authority's registration page lists a five-step online route. You make an account, fill in your profile and business, press apply, and later print the licence online. Nothing in those steps needs a visit to an office.
- Go to the e-licence portal at e.kpfsa.gov.pk and register an account.
- Open Edit Profile and complete your personal information.
- Add the business details for the premises you want licensed.
- Press Apply for License, then print your application and keep it safe.
- After approval, print the licence on the KPFSHFA licence print page by entering the required details.

Keep the printed application. It is your proof that you applied if an inspector visits before the licence arrives.
One licence for each premises
The authority's note says that if you manufacture, store and sell at different premises, you must apply separately for each one. A kitchen in Peshawar and a shop in Charsadda need two licences, not one.
The same note says an application counts as submitted when it comes with proof that the licence fee has been paid. So the payment is part of the application, not a step after it.
| Your situation | What the authority's note implies |
|---|---|
| One shop that cooks and sells | One application for that premises |
| A kitchen and a separate shop | Two applications, one for each premises |
| A factory and a warehouse | Two applications, one for each premises |
| A new branch in another town | A new application for the branch |
These rows are our reading of the authority's rule. They are not a table from the authority.
How the authority decides
The authority may grant a licence or decline it. It says it weighs three things: whether the information you submitted is true, the findings of an inspection by a Food Safety Officer, and your earlier record of following the Act.
Giving false information is punishable under section 27 of the law. That rule makes an honest application the better route. A wrong business size or a missing second premises can cost you more than the delay of a correction.
The authority also has a business search page on its website and runs Food Handlers Training at three levels. Training is a separate service, so ask about it if your staff handle food.

Where to ask for help in KP
The authority lists a head office on Khyber Road, Peshawar, with phone 091-9212959 and email infokpfsa@kp.gov.pk. Its toll free number is 0800-37432 and its WhatsApp number is 0345-1009348. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Regional offices are listed for Mardan (0937-840318), Kohat (0922-513506), Dera Ismail Khan (0966-741212), Bannu (0928-633294), Swat (0946-721071) and Abbottabad (0992-383913). Call the one nearest you before travelling.

The registration page does not state a fee, a processing time or a document list. Call the authority for the fee for your category. The authority's downloads page carries a licence category document, which is the place to look for the fee schedule.
Other licences you may still need
A food licence covers food safety only. A clinic canteen, a school tuckshop or a hospital kitchen may also have health-sector rules, and a customer can check a healthcare provider in the KP check for licensed clinics and labs. A shop also needs local council permission, as explained in the trade licence and business registration steps.
If you sell food labelled halal, certification is a separate step, covered in how to get halal certification for a food business. Customers who find unsafe food can use the helplines gathered in reporting unsafe food in Sindh, KP or Balochistan.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the registration page, the contact page and the downloads page of the KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on 12 October 2026. The fee, the processing time and the document list were not on those pages, so confirm them with the authority.
