KPPSC Interview Tips: 6 Questions to Prepare and 10 Mistakes KPPSC Says to Avoid
KPPSC's own interview tips: the 6 questions to prepare, how to build your introduction, what to wear and 10 mistakes to avoid, plus the 50 mark interview rule.

KPPSC publishes its own interview tips at kppsc.gov.pk/interview_tips: 6 questions to prepare, a dress list, and 10 mistakes that hurt candidates. The most important one, KPPSC says, is how you introduce yourself: "failing which can out you from the list". The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission adds that the tips are general and "not specific for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PSC".
Interviews matter at KPPSC. For posts without a syllabus based exam, the interview carries 50 of KPPSC's 100 merit marks. And November 2026 is a busy interview month. We read KPPSC's tips page on 5 November and set it out below in plain steps, with the questions KPPSC itself lists.
KPPSC lists 6 questions to prepare
KPPSC's page gives six "Some Questions" to practise. They are about you and the post, not general knowledge. Prepare a short, honest answer to each.
- How will you introduce yourself?
- Have you researched the post for which you are going to be interviewed?
- Why do you consider yourself the most suited person for the post?
- Why do you feel you can do the job?
- What makes you qualified for the job?
- Do you know about the job responsibilities?
KPPSC also says "Best English skills is the key to success", and to practise by asking yourself questions, or with a friend. It tells candidates to study general books and newspapers and to remember past interview mistakes.

Plan your introduction in 4 parts
KPPSC calls the introduction "the most important point in interview". It splits it into four parts. Keep each part short and tied to the job.
| Part | What KPPSC says to cover |
|---|---|
| Personal and education | Your latest degree or your main field if it fits the job. Not marital status or children. |
| Past and present experience | Work experience relevant to the job. |
| Life and career objectives | Goals that relate to the job. |
| Why you are here | You have the knowledge and experience the job needs. |
A one minute introduction is enough for most panels. Practise it out loud until it sounds natural, not memorised.
Dress neatly and bring every document
KPPSC's dress list is simple. Pressed clothes, new if possible. Clean, polished shoes. Neat hair and trimmed nails. Empty pockets, with no noisy coins. No gum, sweets or cigarettes. On the morning of the interview, give 30 extra minutes to your appearance.
KPPSC also says to "assemble all necessary papers/documents". Bring the originals listed in your interview letter. Our guide to the KPPSC interview letter and DMC explains where to find the letter.

Behave the way KPPSC asks in the room
KPPSC lists what to do while you face the panel. Most of it is about being calm and honest.
- Introduce yourself in a friendly way and keep a smile.
- Make frequent eye contact and show interest by nodding.
- Listen carefully. Ask the panel to repeat a question if you are confused.
- Answer in the language you are asked in.
- Admit when you do not know. Give accurate information.
- Give positive answers even to negative questions, but do not be over confident.
- At the end, thank the panel and say Salam as you leave the chair.
Avoid the 10 mistakes KPPSC names
KPPSC's "Things to avoid" list is direct. Read it the night before.
| Mistake | What to do instead |
|---|---|
| Poor personal appearance | Follow the dress list above. |
| Lack of interest | Research the post and the department. |
| Poor knowledge of your own past and future | Prepare your introduction. |
| Poor eye contact | Look at the person asking. |
| Irrelevant answers | Answer only what is asked. |
| Unclear speech, poor grammar | Practise speaking aloud. |
| No career plan or goals | Know why you want this job. |
| Nervousness, lack of confidence | Do mock interviews. |
| Making excuses | Own your gaps honestly. |
| Errors in the application form | Check your form matches your documents. |
Know how much the KPPSC interview counts
For posts without a syllabus based exam, KPPSC scores candidates out of 100: 50 for the interview, 30 for academic record, up to 10 for experience, and small marks for a first position, Hifz-ul-Quran and extra qualifications. The interview pass mark is 60 per cent. So a strong interview can lift you over candidates with better grades, and a weak one can end your chance. Our page on KPPSC merit marks explains the split. For dates and panels this month, see the KPPSC November interview programme.
