A board to board migration certificate costs Rs 1,500 at BISE Peshawar and BISE Malakand, while a local migration inside the same board costs Rs 2,000 at Abbottabad and Rs 7,600 at DG Khan. You apply to the board you are leaving, then enrol with the new board before any exam form.

Families move for jobs, and students change colleges between 9th and 10th, or 11th and 12th. Each move across a board's boundary needs a migration certificate, and every board sets its own fee. We read the fee schedules that six boards publish on their own websites on 31 October 2026 and put the figures in one place, with the rules that decide whether your new board will accept you.

Migration fees differ a lot from board to board

The cheapest board to board migration we found is Rs 1,500, at Peshawar and Malakand. The dearest migration fee is DG Khan's Rs 7,600 for a local move within a city or town. Several boards do not publish a migration fee at all.

DG Khan raised its local migration fee from Rs 7,500 to Rs 7,600 in a notification dated 28 August 2026, after a board meeting on 13 August. Abbottabad's Rs 2,000, up from Rs 1,000, comes from a notice of 29 July 2025, the latest fee notice on its site. More DG Khan fees are in DG Khan board fee 2026.

Board to board and local migration are not the same thing

Board to board migration moves your record from one board to another, for example from Peshawar to Lahore. Local migration moves you between schools or colleges inside the same board. They are priced separately, so check which one your case needs before you pay.

Malakand's schedule shows both in one place: Rs 1,500 for board to board or university, Rs 2,000 for school or college to school or college. DG Khan and Abbottabad list only the local kind on their fee pages. Peshawar lists the board to board kind, which it also uses when a student moves to a university.

How to get a migration certificate from your old board

Get admission at the new school or college first, then apply to your old board with its migration form, the documents it lists, and the fee. Some boards issue the certificate the same day; Malakand lists same-day delivery for migration.

  1. Secure a seat at the new school or college.
  2. Download the migration form from your old board's website, or collect it from the board.
  3. Pay the migration fee through the board's challan or bank.
  4. Submit the form, fee receipt and the copies the form asks for.
  5. Take the migration certificate to the new board and enrol there before the admission deadline.
Steps to get a board to board migration certificate in Pakistan

The documents each board asks for differ slightly, so read your old board's form before you go. For a Lahore case the online route is set out in how to get a migration certificate from BISE Lahore, and for Peshawar in BISE Peshawar migration certificate.

Your new board decides when migration is too late

The receiving board sets the cut-off. BISE Peshawar posted a notice that no migration would be allowed after 15 January 2026, and BISE Kohat refuses an exam admission from a migrated student who is not already enrolled with it.

Kohat's notice for the HSSC Annual-II 2026 exam also says a student who migrated for Part-II must sit the Part-I practical in Kohat if they did not take it there. That rule surprises students who passed their Part-I practical at their old board. Our report on BISE Kohat inter supplementary admission has the full notice.

The practical advice is simple. Migrate early in the session, long before the exam forms open in the autumn, and keep copies of every receipt. A migration certificate that arrives after the new board's enrolment deadline can cost a whole year.

Boards whose migration fee we could not confirm

BISE Multan's fee page has no migration entry, though its menu has a separate "Migrations" section. Sargodha's fee page lists an NOC fee of Rs 3,000 but no migration item. BIEK in Karachi publishes a migration form without a fee printed on it.

We could not read fee pages for BISE Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sahiwal, which refused our requests, or for BISE Lahore and Rawalpindi, which did not show a fee schedule we could open. For the Karachi intermediate board, the forms and online portal are in BIEK migration certificate and duplicate marksheet. Ask the board directly before you pay any amount you see quoted elsewhere.

Common questions

How much is the board to board migration fee?

Rs 1,500 at BISE Peshawar and BISE Malakand, on their own fee schedules. Other boards set different amounts.

What is the DG Khan board migration fee in 2026?

Rs 7,600 for a local migration within a city or town, from the August 2026 fee notification.

Which board issues the migration certificate?

The board you are leaving. You then enrol with the new board using that certificate.

Can I migrate after exam admission forms open?

Often not. Kohat will not take an exam admission from a migrated student who is not enrolled with it, and Peshawar closed migration after 15 January 2026.

How long does a migration certificate take?

BISE Malakand lists same-day delivery. Other boards do not publish a time on the pages we read.

Do I need a migration certificate for university admission?

Ask your university. Peshawar and Malakand both price migration to a university at the same Rs 1,500 as board to board.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 31 October 2026. We read the fee pages of BISE Peshawar, BISE Malakand, BISE Sargodha and BISE Multan; BISE DG Khan's fee notification dated 28 August 2026; BISE Abbottabad's fee notice of 29 July 2025; BISE Kohat's HSSC Annual-II notice of 19 October 2026; and BIEK's migration form. The Peshawar migration cut-off comes from the title of a notice on its notifications list, which we did not open. Fees can change, so confirm on your board's challan.
