A clear autumn sky over brown hills, for the PMD weather forecast

Pakistan stays dry from Saturday 31 October to Thursday 5 November 2026, according to the weekly outlook the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued on 30 October. The only rain in the forecast is light rain, with snow on the mountains, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Mansehra from 1 November, and a rain and thunderstorm spell in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 5 November.

Days stay warm in the plains and nights keep getting colder. Karachi is still forecast at 35 to 37°C on Saturday, while Lahore and Islamabad sit at 27 to 29°C. Below you will find the day-by-day outlook, the temperature range for 25 cities, the lowest readings PMD logged overnight and what the dry spell means for fog and smog.

We read PMD's weekly weather outlook and its daily forecast for 30 October 2026, issued at 17:30 hours, on the morning of 31 October.

Dry weather covers most of Pakistan for all six days

PMD expects dry weather over most of the country every day from 31 October to 5 November 2026. Continental air, the dry air mass that sits over Pakistan in autumn, is in control. The northern areas turn cold and cloudy, with light rain and mountain snow from Sunday.

Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Islamabad get no rain at all in this outlook. That matches the week before: the forecast for 27 October to 1 November was also dry with cold nights. So the dry spell now runs past two weeks.

These are daytime highs. PMD gives one range for each day. Sindh's afternoons are still hot for November, and PMD's own Sindh text says "hot during daytime". For the Karachi detail of last week, see the Karachi forecast for 27 and 28 October.

Nights are already cold: Skardu 2°C and Quetta 6°C

PMD's minimum temperature table dated 31 October 2026 shows Babusar at 1°C, Skardu at 2°C, Gupis at 3°C and Kalat and Astore at 4°C. Quetta dropped to 6°C and Murree to 7°C. In the plains, Islamabad read 11°C, Lahore 16°C and Karachi 22°C.

Lowest temperatures on PMD's table dated 31 October 2026 in Pakistani cities

We read that table at about 3 am PKT on 31 October, so some stations may still drop by sunrise. The gap between day and night is wide. Quetta goes from about 25°C in the afternoon to 6°C at night. Chakwal reads 11°C at night and 29°C by day.

Cold nights after warm days are when people catch chills and leave heaters on. To follow your own city each morning, use PMD's minimum temperature page, which updates daily.

A dry week means more fog risk and no help for smog

Six dry days with calm air and cold nights are the usual setting for fog in Punjab and smog in the big cities. Rain clears dust and smoke from the air, and none is forecast for the plains. PMD's outlook does not mention fog, but drivers should check before night trips.

Before a long drive, do these four things:

  1. Open PMD's motorway fog page and check the issue date before you trust the table.
  2. Call the motorway police on 130 for live road status.
  3. Check your city's air quality reading if anyone in the car has asthma.
  4. Carry warm clothes if you are heading north, where nights are near freezing.

The motorway fog update explains how to read PMD's fog table. Smog advice for families is in NIH's mask advice.

Snow is possible on northern mountains from 1 November

Light rain on lower ground and snow on high mountains is forecast for Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir and Swat from 1 to 4 November, with Kohistan and Mansehra on some days. On 5 November a stronger spell of rain, wind and thunderstorm is possible in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Gilgit is forecast at 22 to 24°C by day, but Babusar is only 11 to 13°C and Malam Jabba 14 to 16°C. If you plan a trip north, take the PMD tourist forecast as well. The NDMA has a short list for preparing your car for a winter trip.
