Pakistani Passport Fee in Japan: 6,200 to 27,800 Yen at the Tokyo Embassy (2026 List)
Pakistani passport fee in Japan: 6,200 for 5 years and 9,300 for 10 at the Tokyo embassy, likely in yen. Delivery times, papers, child rules and lost fees.

A Pakistani passport at the embassy in Tokyo costs 6,200 for a normal 5 year, 36 page passport and 9,300 for a 10 year one, rising to 27,800 for an urgent 10 year, 72 page book. The embassy's table prints no currency sign. Its other fees are in Japanese yen, so these are almost certainly yen, but confirm on the passport line before you pay. Below is the full table, delivery times, the papers for adults and children and the rules for a lost passport.
We read the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo's pages on mofa.gov.pk on 6 November 2026. The embassy serves Pakistanis living in Japan. Every applicant must come in person for photo and fingerprints, and photocopies alone are not accepted.
Pakistani passport fee in Japan for 5 and 10 years
The Tokyo embassy lists 6,200 to 18,600 for a 5 year passport and 9,300 to 27,800 for a 10 year one. It offers 36 and 72 page books, at normal or urgent speed.
| Passport | 5 years, normal | 5 years, urgent | 10 years, normal | 10 years, urgent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 36 pages | 6,200 | 10,300 | 9,300 | 15,500 |
| 72 pages | 11,400 | 18,600 | 17,000 | 27,800 |
Why we read these as yen: the embassy's attestation fees on the same site are printed in yen, from ¥1,000 for a nationality certificate to ¥3,000 for a marriage registration certificate, as our page on NICOP and attestation in Japan records. The passport table itself has no ¥ sign, so we cannot say it for certain.
The table is labelled MRP, the machine readable passport, while the embassy's contact page has a separate email for the e-passport. Pakistan has been moving applicants to the e-passport, as our page on the MRP stop from 15 October explains, so ask whether the fee has changed.

Normal takes at least 20 working days, urgent at least 15
The embassy says urgent passports take at least 15 working days and normal passports at least 20. That does not include courier time between Pakistan and Japan. Urgent costs about 1.6 to 1.7 times normal but saves only about a week.
A normal 36 page passport costs 1,240 a year over 5 years and 930 a year over 10 years. That is our arithmetic from the embassy's table. Children under 18 get a 5 year passport only, according to the Tokyo page, which is stricter than DGIP's under 15 rule at home.
Bring your CNIC and Japanese residence card
The two papers every applicant needs are a valid CNIC (or NICOP) and a Japanese residence card. For a renewal, add your previous passport with a copy. Photocopies of the main documents alone are not accepted.
- Check that your CNIC or NICOP is valid.
- Bring your Japanese residence card.
- Bring your previous passport and a photocopy.
- Write your full present and permanent address and mobile number on the form.
- Show your other passport if you are a dual national.
- Bring an NOC from your department if you are a government employee.
- Come in person for photo and fingerprints.
To change a woman's name from her father's to her husband's, bring the old passport, a valid CNIC, the marriage certificate, the husband's ID card and the residence card. The embassy also says asylum or refugee applicants are referred to the Intelligence Bureau for clearance before a passport is issued.

Children need both parents or an affidavit
Both parents must come with a child under 18. If one cannot come, that parent signs an affidavit saying there is no separation or custody case in court, with a thumb impression. A parent in Pakistan or a third country must get the affidavit attested by the Foreign Ministry or the local Pakistani mission.
| Child's age | NADRA document | Also bring |
|---|---|---|
| Below 10 | Form B or CRC, and NICOP, with copies | Residence card, parents' CNICs, passports, residence cards, marriage certificate |
| 10 to 18 | Juvenile card | Old passport for renewal, residence card, parents' papers, marriage certificate |
Separated parents should read our page on a child passport when parents are separated before they book.
A lost passport costs double, then four times
The embassy charges double the fee for a first lost passport and four times for a second. A third loss needs approval from the Director General of Immigration and Passports in Islamabad. On a normal 5 year, 36 page passport, that is 12,400 for a first loss and 24,800 for a second, by our arithmetic.
Bring your CNIC, the original police report (FIR) of the loss, a copy of the passport if you have one, and the lost passport's number. The embassy marks the number and a police report naming it as compulsory. Our guide to a lost Pakistani passport abroad covers the first steps.
For an urgent trip home without a passport, the embassy issues an Emergency Travel Document. Bring a copy of your NICOP or passport, three photos, the police report, the ETD form from the embassy website, an air ticket and proof of urgency.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Embassy of Pakistan Tokyo's passport page, consular timings page and contact page on 6 November 2026. The fees are the embassy's printed figures, which carry no currency sign and no date. The two emergency numbers differ between pages, and we have reported both.
