Petrol costs Rs 390.66 a litre in Pakistan from Friday, 2 October 2026, up Rs 3.26. High speed diesel is Rs 399.34, down Rs 1.01. Petrol has risen for the first time since 26 September, while diesel has now fallen on ten price dates in a row.

That is the petrol price today in Pakistan. We read the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) price sheet for 2 October at about 11pm PKT on 1 October. OGRA is the regulator that works out the fuel price each day. Its sheet gives both new prices, effective from midnight.

Petrol is Rs 390.66 and diesel Rs 399.34 today

From 2 October 2026, petrol is Rs 390.66 a litre and high speed diesel is Rs 399.34. Petrol rose Rs 3.26 and diesel fell Rs 1.01 from the 1 October rates. Both figures come from OGRA's own price sheet, which we read at source on Thursday night.

OGRA's sheet for 2 October says "Effective October 02, 2026, 00:00 hours". The 1 October figures in the first column are confirmed too. The Petroleum Division's press release dated 30 September set them at Rs 387.40 for petrol and Rs 400.35 for diesel.

The Petroleum Division had not posted a release for 2 October when we checked. Pakistan State Oil's (PSO) price page still showed the 1 October prices at that hour. OGRA's sheet is the primary record, so we use it.

Petrol rose after three days of cuts

Petrol fell on 29 September, 30 September and 1 October, by Rs 3.90 in all. The Rs 3.26 rise on 2 October takes back most of that. Petrol is now just 64 paisa below the Rs 391.30 it cost on 26 September.

Petrol price in Pakistan by date, 26 September to 2 October 2026
DatePetrolChangeDieselChange
26 SeptemberRs 391.30Up Rs 2.02Rs 408.53Down Rs 3.59
29 SeptemberRs 389.03Down Rs 2.27Rs 404.97Down Rs 3.56
30 SeptemberRs 387.54Down Rs 1.49Rs 402.24Down Rs 2.73
1 OctoberRs 387.40Down Rs 0.14Rs 400.35Down Rs 1.89
2 OctoberRs 390.66Up Rs 3.26Rs 399.34Down Rs 1.01

Why the rise? The sheet shows the Gulf price of petrol averaged $129.01 a barrel, up from $127.74. So the cost of petrol landed at Karachi rose Rs 3.07, to Rs 253.31. The exchange rate adjustment rose 56 paisa, and customs duty fell 37 paisa. Together that is the Rs 3.26 rise. The 1 October prices were the last cut.

Diesel has fallen ten times since its 18 September peak

Diesel peaked at Rs 424.92 on 18 September. It has fallen on every price date since, ten in a row. The total drop is Rs 25.58 a litre, or about 6 per cent. Diesel now costs only Rs 8.68 more than petrol.

High speed diesel price in Pakistan, 26 September to 2 October 2026

The gap was Rs 22.84 on 25 September and Rs 12.95 on 1 October. Diesel runs trucks, tractors and tube wells, so a cheaper litre matters for goods and farm costs.

The two fuels follow different world prices. Diesel follows Dubai crude, which averaged $110.11 on today's sheet, down from $110.68, plus a fixed "crack" of $41.89. Petrol follows the Gulf petrol price, which went the other way. OGRA uses a seven working day average, so world moves reach the pump slowly. That delay is the reason behind why petrol did not fall when oil fell.

Levies and customs add Rs 110.26 to each litre of petrol

OGRA's sheet breaks down the Rs 390.66. The petroleum levy is Rs 80 a litre, the climate support levy Rs 5 and customs duty Rs 25.26. Together that is Rs 110.26 on petrol. Diesel carries Rs 100.68, because its customs duty is Rs 15.68.

What makes up the petrol price in Pakistan on 2 October 2026, from OGRA's sheet
  • Petrol landed at Karachi: Rs 253.31 a litre, at $144.87 a barrel including freight and Rs 277.29 to the dollar.
  • Exchange rate adjustment: Rs 1.33 a litre on petrol and zero on diesel.
  • Oil company margin: Rs 7.87 a litre on both fuels.
  • Petrol pump dealer's margin: Rs 9.98 a litre.
  • Inland freight margin: Rs 7.91 on petrol and Rs 4.15 on diesel.
  • Sales tax: zero. OGRA's sheet says both fuels are exempt.

The federal government sets the petroleum levy, not OGRA, so it does not move with world prices.

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 130 more than yesterday

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 15,626.40 today, Rs 130.40 more than on 1 October. A 200 litre diesel fill costs Rs 79,868, Rs 202 less than yesterday and Rs 5,116 less than at the 18 September peak.

Cost of a petrol and diesel fill in Pakistan on 2 October 2026
  1. Bike, 5 litres of petrol: Rs 1,953.30, up Rs 16.30.
  2. Car, 10 litres of petrol: Rs 3,906.60, up Rs 32.60.
  3. Car, 40 litres of petrol: Rs 15,626.40, up Rs 130.40.
  4. Pickup, 40 litres of diesel: Rs 15,973.60, down Rs 40.40.
  5. Truck, 200 litres of diesel: Rs 79,868, down Rs 202.

These are our own sums at the reference price. A pump far from the main depots can charge a little more, because OGRA's price leaves out the last leg of freight. The running record for each day sits with the daily petrol price in Pakistan.

The 9771 relief brings petrol to Rs 290.66

Bikes, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc still get Rs 100 off each litre with a 9771 token. At today's price that makes petrol Rs 290.66 a litre. A bike token covers 5 litres and a car token covers 10 litres.

The official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk, offered Rs 100 a litre when we re-read it on 1 October. That covers vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2006, with 5 litres for 7 days on bikes and 10 litres for 10 days on cars.

A 5 litre bike token now costs Rs 1,453.30. A 10 litre car token costs Rs 2,906.60. The SMS format and fixes for a missing token are in how to get petrol relief with code 9771.
