PTCL's landline codes are *21* plus a number and # to forward all calls, *43# for call waiting, *26# for do not disturb, *55* plus a time and # for a wake up call, and *51* to save a speed dial number; each one is cancelled with # and the same two digits, such as #21#. These work only after the service is switched on through 1218, and PTCL bundles them for Rs 55 a month. Every code, the Flash button tricks for conference and call back, and the PTCL short numbers are below.

Most people with a PTCL line have never used any of this, then need it the week they travel and the shop phone has to ring on a mobile. We read PTCL's VAS Bundle page and its contact directory on 2 November 2026.

Every PTCL landline code in one table

PTCL lists activation and cancellation codes for eight services. Forwarding comes in three kinds: all calls, calls you do not answer, and calls while you are busy. You type the full number you want calls sent to, with its area code, between the code and the #.

ServiceTurn onTurn off
Forward all calls (immediate)*21*full number##21#
Forward when not answered*06*full number##06#
Forward when busy*09*full number##09#
Call waiting*43##43#
Do not disturb*26##26#
Wake up call*55*hours minutes#*55* (as PTCL prints it)
Speed dial (abbreviated dialling)*51*key digit*number##51#
Call back on busyFlash, then *59#Not listed

PTCL's own example for forwarding is *21*0212254155#, which sends every call to a Karachi number. Saving 0212254155 on key 1 for speed dial is *51*1*0212254155#. You can save up to 10 numbers this way, one per digit.

Switch the services on through 1218 first

Every service on PTCL's page ends with the same line: to activate, call 1218. The codes control a service that is already on your line. If a code gives an error tone, the service is probably not activated yet, so call 1218 and ask for it.

PTCL sells the whole set as a VAS bundle for Rs 55 a month, with taxes on top. The bundle also includes caller ID, conference calling, an incoming only option, call transfer, code barring, bill alerts and a time check. If you are on a Freedom landline package, PTCL lists the VAS bundle as free, and you can check your PTCL bill online to see whether the Rs 55 is being charged.

Caller ID, code barring and bill alerts have no dial code at all on PTCL's page. They are switched on by the 1218 agent. Code barring lets you set a private code so nobody else can misuse the phone, and PTCL says only you can change it.

How to forward your PTCL landline to a mobile

Lift the receiver, dial *21*, the full mobile number, then #, and wait for the confirmation tone. Every call to the landline now rings on that number. Dial #21# to stop. Use *06* or *09* instead if you only want unanswered or busy calls forwarded.

  1. Call 1218 and make sure call forwarding is active on your line.
  2. Lift the receiver and dial *21*, then the full number including its first 0, then #.
  3. Listen for the confirmation, then hang up.
  4. Ask someone to ring the landline and check it reaches the other phone.
  5. When you are back, dial #21# to cancel forwarding.

PTCL's page does not say how a forwarded call is charged. A forward to a mobile may be billed to you like a call to a mobile, at PTCL's rate of Rs 3.3 a minute, so ask on 1218 before you leave it on for a month. Mobile SIMs use different codes, and the call forwarding check with ##002# covers those.

Conference calls and call back on busy use the Flash button

For a three way call, make the first call, press Flash, dial the second number, then press Flash and 3 once it connects. For call back on busy, press Flash when you hear the busy tone, dial *59#, and hang up. PTCL rings you when the line frees.

No Flash button on your handset? PTCL says a quick tap on the phone cradle does the same job. With call back on busy, your own phone rings when the other number is free, and PTCL dials the number for you once you pick up. It saves redialling a busy clinic or office twenty times.

For do not disturb, *26# stops every incoming call, and callers hear a recorded message until you dial #26#. Do not forget it is on, or you will miss calls for days. Spam calls on mobiles are a separate problem, handled through PTA's 3627 service.

PTCL short numbers worth saving

PTCL's contact directory lists 1218 for help with all services, 1217 for inquiry and directory services, 1200 for billing information, and 0800 0 1217 to update a directory listing. Its VAS page adds 1214 for the time check.

NumberWhat it is for
1218Help with all services, and activating VAS
1217Inquiry and directory services
1200Billing information
1214Time check, Pakistan Standard Time
0800 0 1217Update a directory listing
1260Corporate helpline

A line that is dead, crackling or charging you wrongly needs a PTCL complaint on 1218, not a code. Note the complaint number the agent gives you.

Common questions

What is the PTCL call forwarding code?

*21* followed by the full number and # forwards all calls. *06* forwards unanswered calls and *09* forwards calls when busy. Cancel with #21#, #06# or #09#.

How do I turn off do not disturb on a PTCL phone?

Dial #26#. Turn it on again with *26#.

How do I set a wake up call on PTCL?

PTCL lists *55* followed by the hours and minutes, then #. The service must be active first, through 1218.

How much is the PTCL VAS bundle?

Rs 55 a month plus tax. PTCL lists it as free with its Freedom landline packages.

Why does a PTCL code not work on my line?

The service is probably not activated. PTCL says each one is switched on by calling 1218.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read PTCL's VAS Bundle page, its value added services page and the PTCL contact directory on 2 November 2026. We did not dial the codes ourselves. PTCL does not give an example for the wake up time format, prints the wake up cancellation as *55* without a #, lists no cancellation code for call back on busy, and does not say how forwarded calls are billed.
