A PTCL static IP costs Rs 499 a month for one usable IP address, or Rs 699 a month for two, plus a one time installation charge of Rs 500 and taxes. Online gamers can also switch on PTCL's Fast Path for free, which lowers latency: sign in on the PTCL website, open Change Latency Type and pick Fast, and it starts within 24 hours. Both services, who actually needs them, and the cheaper fixes to try first are below.

Two kinds of PTCL customer ask for these: the freelancer whose client wants a fixed address to whitelist, and the teenager whose ping in Free Fire jumps at 9 pm. We read PTCL's Internet Static IP page and its Fast Path for Online Gamers page on 2 November 2026.

PTCL static IP price: Rs 499 or Rs 699 a month

PTCL sells two static IP bundles. Bundle 1 gives one usable IP for Rs 499 a month. Bundle 4 gives two usable IPs for Rs 699 a month. Both carry a Rs 500 installation charge, and PTCL says terms and taxes apply on top.

Bundle 1/321Rs 499Rs 500
Bundle 4/302Rs 699Rs 500

A static IP is a public internet address that does not change. A normal home connection gets a new address now and then, which is fine for browsing but breaks anything that needs to find your network from outside.

Over a year, Bundle 1 costs Rs 5,988 plus the Rs 500 installation, before tax, by our sum. Bundle 4 costs Rs 8,388 a year plus installation.

Who needs a static IP, and who does not

You need one if something outside must reach your network at a fixed address: CCTV you watch remotely, a VPN into your office, a server, a POS or ERP system, or a client that whitelists your IP. Browsing, streaming, video calls and most freelance platforms work without one.

PTCL's own list of uses is remote office access, CCTV, VPN connections, website and server hosting, POS and ERP systems, business applications, freelancing and remote work, and gaming and networking.

  • Buy it for: remote CCTV viewing without a cloud app, port forwarding to a home server, a client or bank system that only accepts one fixed IP, a VPN you host yourself.
  • Skip it for: ordinary freelancing on marketplaces, YouTube, Netflix, WhatsApp calls, and most online games.

A static IP also makes you easier to find. Change the router's admin password and turn off any port you do not use. The PTCL WiFi password change steps show where the router settings are.

If the reason is a VPN for work, Pakistan has separate rules. Read how to register a VPN with PTA and how PTA's IP address whitelisting works, because a fixed IP is often what those forms ask for.

How to switch on PTCL Fast Path for gaming

Fast Path is a free PTCL broadband setting that lowers latency for online games. Sign in to your account on the PTCL website, open Change Latency Type under My Account Services, choose Fast and confirm. PTCL says it activates within 24 hours, depending on line quality.

  1. Open the PTCL website and sign in. If you have no account, register and add your PTCL products, such as your landline and internet.
  2. Under My Account Services on the left, choose Change Latency Type.
  3. Select Change Latency, then pick Fast from the drop-down list.
  4. Read the disclaimer and press Confirm.
  5. Wait up to 24 hours, then test your ping in the game.

You can also ask for Fast Path by calling 1218. PTCL warns that it can affect stability on some lines. If your connection starts dropping, follow the same steps and switch back.

Steps to switch on PTCL Fast Path for online gaming

Fix lag before you pay for anything

Most lag at home comes from Wi-Fi, not the line. Plug the console or PC into the router with a cable, close downloads on other devices, and pick the nearest game server. Then turn on Fast Path. A static IP rarely helps ping.

Run a speed test on a cable at the hour the lag happens, and keep the result. If speeds sit far below your package, PTA's rules on broadband speed against the advertised figure give you a basis for a complaint. A dead or dropping line goes to a PTCL complaint on 1218.

And if your ping is fine but the game wants top-ups, the payment side is a different problem, covered for Free Fire diamonds top-up by Easypaisa and JazzCash.

PTCL static IP compared with Optix

Optix, a Karachi fibre provider, lists a static IP add-on at Rs 500 a month, before tax. That is Re 1 more than PTCL's single IP bundle. Optix's FAQ also says you need a static IP from it for bridge mode and port forwarding.

PTCL's static IP page does not give an online order form. Its helplines are the route it lists for services: 1218 for home customers and 1260 for corporate customers.

Common questions

How much does a PTCL static IP cost?

Rs 499 a month for one usable IP, or Rs 699 for two, plus Rs 500 installation and taxes.

Is PTCL Fast Path free?

Yes. PTCL says Fast Path is a free service for broadband customers, switched on from your online account or by calling 1218.

How long does PTCL Fast Path take to activate?

Up to 24 hours after you confirm, subject to line quality, according to PTCL.

Do I need a static IP for Upwork or Fiverr?

Usually not. You need one only if a client or system asks you to connect from a fixed, whitelisted address.

Can I turn Fast Path off?

Yes. Follow the same steps and switch the latency type back if your connection becomes unstable.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read PTCL's Internet Static IP page and Fast Path page, and Optix's packages page and FAQs, on 2 November 2026. The yearly totals are our arithmetic. PTCL's static IP page does not say how to order or what tax rate applies to it, and we did not test Fast Path, so we cannot say how much it lowers ping.
