Punjab Agriculture Department Bulldozer Rent Per Hour and Boring Rate Per Foot: Full Rate List and How to Book
Punjab's Agriculture Department rents bulldozers to small farmers at Rs 560 an hour and drills bores from Rs 5 a foot. See every rate and how to book.

The Punjab Agriculture Department rents its bulldozers to small farmers, with under 12.5 acres, for Rs 560 an hour with the department's own diesel, and drills tubewell bores with hand boring plants from Rs 5 a foot at the subsidised rate. You book at your district or tehsil Agriculture (Field) office and pay by challan. Here is every hourly and per-foot rate the department lists, and how booking works.
Levelling a rough field, filling a gully or sinking a new bore is expensive with private machines. The department's Field Wing keeps 297 bulldozers and a fleet of drilling rigs for exactly this work. We read its services page on agripunjab.gov.pk on 1 November 2026.
Bulldozer rent starts at Rs 560 an hour for small farmers
Farmers with less than 12.5 acres pay Rs 560 an hour, and the department supplies the diesel. Farmers with more than 25 acres pay Rs 650 an hour but bring their own diesel. Contractors and non-farm users pay the most, up to Rs 2,750.
| Who hires the bulldozer | Rate per hour | Diesel |
|---|---|---|
| Farmer with under 12.5 acres | Rs 560 | Supplied by the department |
| Farmer with 12.5 to 25 acres | Rs 100, as listed | Supplied by the user |
| Farmer with over 25 acres | Rs 650 | Supplied by the user |
| Government department | Rs 2,120 or Rs 650 | Department diesel or own diesel |
| Non-farm work (contractor, agency, NGO) | Rs 2,750 or Rs 1,280 | Department diesel or own diesel |
The middle row looks wrong. The page prints Rs 100 an hour for farmers with 12.5 to 25 acres, which is far below the rate for both smaller and larger farms. It may be a typing error, so confirm the figure with the office before you plan around it.
All rates are per hour. As an example, ten hours of levelling for a small farmer costs Rs 5,600 with diesel included, on the listed rate.

What the department's bulldozers are used for
The Field Wing uses its bulldozers to bring waste land under cultivation, to improve land already farmed, and to reclaim eroded or gullied land. The same machines build mini dams, water tanks and fish ponds, and help after floods.
Punjab has about 3.79 million acres of culturable waste land, which the department says is 12.21 per cent of the cultivated area. That is the main target of the scheme. A field that only needs fine levelling for water saving is usually better served by laser levelling, which has its own laser land leveller grant in Punjab.
Hand boring costs Rs 5 to Rs 30 a foot at the subsidised rate
The department's 60 hand boring plants drill bores of 7 to 18 inches. Farmers pay a subsidised rate of Rs 5 a foot for a 7-inch bore, rising to Rs 30 a foot for 18 inches. The full rate is roughly double.
| Bore size | Full rate per foot | Subsidised rate per foot |
|---|---|---|
| 7 inches | Rs 17 | Rs 5 |
| 8 inches | Rs 18 | Rs 8 |
| 10 inches | Rs 22 | Rs 11 |
| 12 inches | Rs 39 | Rs 21 |
| 14 inches | Rs 46 | Rs 24 |
| 16 inches | Rs 53 | Rs 27 |
| 18 inches | Rs 56 | Rs 30 |
So a 100-foot bore of 7 inches costs Rs 500 at the subsidised rate, and a 100-foot bore of 12 inches costs Rs 2,100. The page does not say who qualifies for the subsidised rate, so ask the drilling office.

Power drilling rigs cost Rs 149 to Rs 496 a foot
For deeper or wider bores, the department runs 19 power drilling rigs. They charge Rs 149 a foot for an 8 to 10 inch bore and Rs 496 a foot for 21 to 24 inches. Non-farm and commercial work pays 30 per cent more.
| Bore size | Rate per foot |
|---|---|
| 8 to 10 inches | Rs 149 |
| 12 to 15 inches | Rs 217 |
| 16 to 18 inches | Rs 257 |
| 19 to 20 inches | Rs 424 |
| 21 to 24 inches | Rs 496 |
A groundwater survey with a resistivity meter, which checks where water lies before you drill, costs Rs 3,900 per survey. The department also offers a free energy audit of existing tubewells, with advice on cutting running costs.
Before you drill, sort out power. A grid connection follows the steps in get a tubewell electricity connection, and the solar route is in apply for the Punjab solar tube well subsidy.

How to book a bulldozer or drilling rig
Booking is done in person at the district or unit office, not online. You fill in the department's application form, receive a challan for the hours or feet booked, pay it at the treasury or bank, and then wait for your turn.
- Go to the Assistant Agricultural Engineer or the Unit Supervisor at your district or tehsil Agriculture (Field) office. For drilling, ask for the Assistant Agricultural Engineer (Well Drilling) or the Drilling Supervisor.
- Fill in the application form; the bulldozer form can be downloaded from agripunjab.gov.pk.
- The officer prepares a challan showing the hours or feet booked and the charges.
- Deposit the money in the government treasury or bank and keep the paid challan.
- The machine is sent to your land when your turn comes.
If your own tractor or machine needs repair, the Field Wing's 24 workshops also fix farmers' machinery at actual cost, against an advance deposit. Divisional workshops are in Bahawalpur, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Quaidabad, Layyah, Rawalpindi and Talagang.
The head office of the Directorate General Agriculture (Field) is at the Soil Survey of Punjab building on Multan Road, Lahore, phone (042) 37831445. Bigger machinery purchases are a separate route, through the Punjab Green Tractor scheme.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Punjab Agriculture Department's Agriculture (Field) services page on 1 November 2026 for every rate, fleet size and booking step above, and its Field Wing contact page for the head office address and phone. The page does not show a date for the rates, does not say who qualifies for subsidised boring, and lists Rs 100 an hour for the 12.5 to 25 acre group, which we could not confirm. The bulldozer form on the site is a scanned image, so we could not read its fields as text.
