Sundas Foundation gives registered thalassemia, hemophilia and blood disorder patients free blood transfusions, 24 hours a day, at centres in 11 Pakistani cities, with Peshawar listed as coming soon. Call its UAN 042-111-786-327 or walk into the nearest centre to register a patient. Below is every centre, what is free, how to register, and the rules if you want to donate blood instead.

Sundas Foundation was founded in 1998 by the writer Munnoo Bhai. Its head office is at 880 Shadman-1, near Crescent Girls School, Lahore. We read its home, centres, thalassemia, services, contact and blood donation pages on 31 October 2026. Every figure below is the foundation's own.

The website gives a street address only for the Lahore head office. For any other city, call the UAN and ask for the centre's address and the transfusion day before you travel. Families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh outside Karachi have other options, listed by province in free thalassemia treatment and screening in Pakistan.

What Sundas gives thalassemia patients for free

Sundas says registered patients get free, screened blood transfusions, free iron chelation therapy, free laboratory testing and ongoing monitoring. Hemophilia patients get free factor concentrates. The foundation says it never charges patients for care.

That matters because thalassemia major is a lifelong cost. Sundas notes that a child with thalassemia major typically needs a transfusion every two to four weeks for life, and the iron that builds up from repeated transfusions has to be removed with chelation medicine. Paying for both privately is beyond most families.

Register a thalassemia patient in five steps

The Sundas website does not publish a patient registration form or a document list. Registration happens at a centre. Call first, then take the diagnosis and the patient's papers with you, so the first transfusion is not delayed.

  1. Call the UAN 042-111-786-327 and ask for your nearest centre and its address.
  2. Ask which documents the centre needs for registration.
  3. Take the doctor's diagnosis and any test reports, such as the Hb electrophoresis result.
  4. Take the B-Form or CNIC of the patient or parent, as identity proof.
  5. Register at the centre and agree the transfusion schedule.

Steps 3 and 4 are our practical advice, not a Sundas rule, so confirm on the phone. If you live in Islamabad, the government alternative is Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal's thalassaemia centre, and its applications can be tracked by CNIC on the Bait-ul-Mal tracker.

Steps to register a thalassemia patient at a Sundas Foundation centre

Healthy adults aged 18 to 60 who weigh at least 50 kg can donate at any Sundas centre, walk-in, 24 hours a day. The gap between donations must be at least eight weeks. People with a history of hepatitis B or C cannot donate.

Sundas says a donation takes about one pint, around 500 ml, and 10 to 15 minutes. It asks donors to eat a proper meal, drink water and avoid smoking for two hours before and three hours after. You can also register online as a donor, choosing your blood group and nearest centre, so the foundation calls you when your group is short. No blood camps were scheduled when we checked.

Each unit is tested for blood group, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and other infections before use, and stored for up to 35 days. If you are told you have hepatitis at screening, free testing and treatment routes are in free hepatitis B and C tests and treatment.

Sundas Foundation contact numbers

The head office in Lahore answers on the UAN 042-111-786-327, and on 042-37422131 and 042-37422140. Email goes to info@sundas.org. The foundation says it is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because emergencies do not keep office hours.

Before any transfusion anywhere, it is worth knowing that blood banks must be licensed. The check for Punjab is in how to check a blood bank is licensed in Punjab.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Sundas Foundation's home page, centres page, thalassemia page, services page, contact page and blood donation page on 31 October 2026. The website does not publish a patient registration form, the documents needed, or addresses for centres outside Lahore, so we have not invented them. We did not visit a centre.
