Short answer: Overseas Pakistanis can use NADRA's PakID app to register for identity documents, track an application, pay fees, book an appointment for a centre in Pakistan, and store their documents in an ID Vault. NADRA's overseas helpline is 1777, or +92 51 111 786 100 from abroad, and it says the line runs 24 hours.

If you live in Dubai, Riyadh, Manchester or Toronto, a trip to a Pakistani embassy for every small ID task costs a day of wages. NADRA now puts a long list of those tasks on one phone app. The list is long, so it is easy to miss what you can actually do.

We read NADRA's page for Overseas Pakistanis on 14 October 2026. We did not install the app or run a live application, so the steps below follow NADRA's own description.

PakID covers the main identity jobs from abroad

NADRA says its identity services for overseas Pakistanis are now reachable through the PakID mobile app. The app handles registration, visa services, full processing of identity documents, family composition, application tracking, and civil registration of births, deaths, marriages and divorces.

That list is wider than most people expect. A new or renewed identity card is only one item. You can also follow your application, move it up the queue, and upload papers without a courier.

If your task is a card, start with the guide to applying for NICOP online. For the card types and who qualifies for each, see NICOP and Pakistan Origin Card for overseas Pakistanis.

Payment, appointments and priority are built into the app

NADRA says you can pay fees online with JazzCash, EasyPaisa, e-Sahulat, credit or debit cards and Raast. You can also book an appointment at a registration centre in Pakistan, and ask NADRA to expedite or update the priority of an application.

The page does not list the fee for each service. NADRA points to a separate Fee Structure page for that, so check the amount there before you pay.

If you must visit a consulate instead, our note on booking a NADRA or passport appointment at the Jeddah consulate shows how one mission handles it.

Digital cards and certificates sit in an ID Vault

NADRA says the app provides digital versions of the Digital ID, Arms License, Vehicles Card, NADRA Service Card and PEC Card, plus vaccine certificates for polio, yellow fever and Covid-19. Every document NADRA has issued to you, such as CNIC, CRC, NICOP, FRC and POC, is available in an ID Vault.

Documents NADRA says are stored in the PakID ID Vault

A digital copy does not replace every paper in every office. Some offices still ask for the physical card. Ask the office what it accepts before you rely on the phone copy.

Some jobs need your relative's fingerprints in Pakistan

NADRA lists a Multi Biometric Verification System for six cases: attestation by a blood relative, vehicle transfer, legal heirs for a succession certificate, passport issuance, proof of life, and Punjab arms licences. In these cases a person must prove who they are by biometrics.

  1. Open the PakID app and create your account.
  2. Choose the service you need, then enter your details.
  3. Upload each required paper.
  4. Pay the fee using one of the listed methods.
  5. Track the application and book a visit only if the app asks for one.

The page does not explain how each biometric case works from abroad, and it does not say which services need you to visit a Pakistani mission. We could not confirm the exact steps, so call 1777 before you start a biometric case.

If you have a complaint about service, NADRA lists a complaint address, csd@nadra.gov.pk, and a link to the Overseas Pakistanis grievance initiative. Our guide to complaining to NADRA explains the routes.

Common questions

Is the PakID app only for people in Pakistan?

No. NADRA's page for overseas Pakistanis says its identity services are accessible through the PakID app, with services for people abroad listed on that page.

Can I pay my NADRA fee from abroad?

NADRA lists JazzCash, EasyPaisa, e-Sahulat, credit and debit cards and Raast as online payment methods. Check the fee on NADRA's fee page first.

What number do I call from abroad?

NADRA lists 1777 and +92 51 111 786 100, and says the line runs 24 hours. Use the long number from outside Pakistan.

Does the app give me a digital ID?

NADRA says it provides a Digital ID and other digital cards. It does not say a digital copy is accepted everywhere, so ask the office you deal with.

Can I get a vaccine certificate on the app?

NADRA says the app issues vaccine certificates for polio, yellow fever and Covid-19.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read NADRA's page for Overseas Pakistanis. We did not test the app, so we cannot say how smooth each service is, which fees apply, or which services can finish without a visit. Verify each one on NADRA's fee page or by calling the helpline.
