NADRA's Pak ID App Adds Digital IDs for Spouse and Children, Reports Say
NADRA's Pak ID app version 5.8.0 adds digital IDs for a spouse and eligible children, QR checks for B-Forms and vaccine biometrics. See what is not yet stated.

Short answer: NADRA's Pak ID app version 5.8.0 lets users obtain, store and share digital identity cards for a spouse and for eligible children, next to their own digital ID. The same update adds a QR scan to verify a child's B-Form and a CNIC cancellation certificate, and biometric verification for Hajj and Umrah flu and meningitis vaccines. NADRA has not said who counts as an eligible child.
The update was announced on 26 September 2026. We tried to read NADRA's own release on 12 October and its site returned an access error, so the feature list below is reported, not read at source. We did read the NADRA home page, which describes the Pak ID app as its official application for identity registration, updates and service tracking.
The three new features in version 5.8.0
NADRA's statement, as reported, reads: obtain, view, verify and share digital IDs of your spouse and eligible children, and verify child registration certificates and CNIC cancellation certificates by scanning QR codes. The third item is vaccination related.
| Feature | What it does | Not stated |
|---|---|---|
| Family digital IDs | Get, store and share a digital ID for a spouse and eligible children | Age limit, fee, steps |
| QR verification | Scan the QR on a B-Form or cancellation certificate to see verified data | Whether older certificates carry a QR |
| Vaccination check | Biometric verification for flu and meningitis vaccines needed for Hajj and Umrah | Where the vaccine is given |

Family digital IDs, and what is still unclear
The big change is that one account can now hold the digital ID of a spouse and of children. The release does not say how the link is made or whether the other person must approve it.
It also does not define "eligible children". A child under 18 holds a juvenile card or a B-Form, not a CNIC, so the app may need to show a card based on that record. We do not know, and we will not guess. Wait for NADRA to publish the rules.
If you want background on what a digital ID is and how it differs from the plastic card, read our guide to the digital ID card. The wider national plan is described in our report on Pakistan's single digital ID plan.
Scan a B-Form or cancellation certificate to check it
The QR scan lets anyone with the app check a child's B-Form or a cancellation certificate. A cancellation certificate proves a CNIC was cancelled, for example after a death. Banks and courts often ask for it.
A paper that looks right can still be forged. A scan shows the data NADRA holds, so you compare it to the paper. Our guide on verifying a B-Form QR code walks through that scan, and cancelling a CNIC after death covers how the certificate is issued.
If the details on the screen do not match the paper, do not accept the paper. Ask NADRA to confirm it at a centre.
How to get the update and use it safely
Update the app from your phone's official store, then open it and look for the new options. Do not install an app from a link in a message. Fake apps can copy the NADRA name to steal CNIC data.
- Open the official store on your phone and search for Pak ID by NADRA.
- Check that the developer is NADRA, then update to version 5.8.0 or later.
- Log in with your own account only.
- Look for the family digital ID option and the Scan QR Code option.
- Share a digital ID only with a person or office you know, and only when asked.
- Log out on a shared phone, and never send a screenshot of the card to a stranger.

Our guide on protecting your CNIC from misuse explains why a shared card image is risky.
The Hajj and Umrah vaccine check
NADRA says the update makes biometric verification easier for the influenza and meningitis vaccines that Saudi travel needs. Our guide on the NADRA vaccination card for Umrah explains the process in more detail.
The vaccine itself is given at a health facility, not in the app. See our report on the Peshawar flu and meningitis vaccination centre for one example. NADRA has not published the steps of the biometric check, so ask at the vaccination centre what it needs.
Common questions
Which version has the family digital ID?
Version 5.8.0, as reported. Install it or any later version from the official store.
Can I get my spouse's digital ID from my phone?
NADRA says users can obtain and share a spouse's digital ID. It has not said whether the spouse must confirm. Ask NADRA on 1777 if you need to know before you try.
Is there a fee?
The release does not mention one. We do not state a figure.
Is a digital ID the same as a physical CNIC?
It is a digital copy that NADRA issues through the app. Whether an office accepts it depends on that office. Carry the card for places that insist on it.
Can children under 18 have a digital ID?
NADRA says eligible children, and has not listed who is eligible. Wait for the rule.
Does the QR scan work on old B-Forms?
Not stated. If the B-Form has no QR code, ask a NADRA centre to confirm it or to issue a new one.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the NADRA home page at nadra.gov.pk on 12 October 2026. We could not open the release on NADRA's site, so the feature list is reported. We did not install the app, so we have not tested the family ID screen. NADRA may change the rules.
