A velvet suit in Pakistan costs from Rs 6,649 for a Limelight 2 piece on sale to Rs 40,990 for a Maria B jacket suit, on prices we read on the brands' own sites on 7 November 2026. Most embroidered 3 piece velvet suits at mid range brands cost Rs 12,990 to Rs 19,990.

Velvet comes out every November, when the wedding cards start arriving and evening halls get cold. It is warm and it photographs well. But the word "velvet" on a price tag covers a plain jacquard kurta set and a heavily embellished formal, so a price comparison only helps if you compare like with like.

Here are ten real suits at six brands, cheapest first, each with the brand's own photo. We also explain why unstitched is not always cheaper once you add tailoring, and how to look after velvet so it lasts past one season.

Rs 6,649 (was Rs 9,499). A velvet shirt with sequin lace on the border and sleeves, and wide leg velvet trousers. No dupatta, so add your own shawl. This was the cheapest stitched velvet suit we found, and it suits a dinner better than a barat.

Rs 8,399 (was Rs 11,999). Velvet shirt and trousers with a 2.5 metre shawl in staple fabric. You get a wearable shawl in the set, which makes this good value if your tailor's price is fair.

Rs 8,990. A black velvet jacquard tunic with a boat neck, and a tapered shalwar. The pattern is woven into the fabric rather than embroidered on top. It's a good pick for office dinners, and easy to dress up with jewellery.

Rs 18,499. Velvet with embroidery and a detailed net dupatta. Net over velvet is a good formal mix, because the dupatta stops the outfit looking too heavy. The other two listings in this design family cost Rs 19,999.

Rs 40,990. A front open velvet jacket with a hand embellished collar. Maria B velvet formals climbed well above this: Rs 60,990 for a red lehenga design and Rs 75,990 at the top of what we read. See the full Maria B price list for the other lines.

Stitched or unstitched velvet: which costs less

Unstitched velvet looks cheaper, but a tailor must add lining, and a mistake on velvet cannot be pressed out. Add your tailor's quote to the fabric price and compare it with a stitched suit. Choose stitched if the wedding is less than two weeks away.

Not sure velvet is right at all? The warmth and cost of khaddar, karandi, marina and velvet side by side will help you decide.

Check velvet quality before you pay

Good velvet has an even, soft shine and springs back when you press it. Rub a corner to look for shedding, check that the pile runs one way, and look at the back of the embroidery before you pay.

  1. Press a thumb into the fabric for three seconds. The mark should fade quickly.
  2. Run a hand both ways. The pile should feel smooth one way and rough the other, and look even.
  3. Rub a small area against a white cloth to check that the colour does not transfer.
  4. Check the wrong side of the embroidery for loose threads, since they catch on rings and bangles.
  5. Ask if the suit is lined. Unlined velvet can be heavy and uncomfortable on the skin.
Five quality checks for a velvet suit before you buy it in Pakistan

Online you can't do any of this. So look at the brand's return terms first: the clothing brand exchange rules vary by brand, and sale pieces often have different terms.

Wear velvet in the right places

Velvet suits evening weddings, winter dinners and indoor halls, where its deep colour holds up under lighting. It is too heavy for a daytime garden nikah in Karachi. In the north, it works well if you add a warm layer on top.

Maroon, black, emerald and navy are the colours that show velvet at its best. Pale velvet marks more easily. The same colours lead most winter wedding guest outfits at cheaper budgets too.

Limelight also listed a velvet cape at Rs 3,999, down from Rs 6,899. A cape over a plain suit you own already gets you most of the look for far less than a new suit.

Look after a velvet suit so it lasts

Dry clean velvet when you can, never wring it, and hang it rather than folding it. Steam it from inside out instead of pressing an iron on the pile, because a hot iron flattens velvet and the mark can stay for good.

Store it in a cotton cover in a dry cupboard. Plastic traps damp, and that is what creates a musty smell in stored winter clothes. And if a wedding function leaves a mark, try to treat it the same day. These are general textile care notes. Follow the brand's own label where it differs.

Common questions

What is the price of a velvet suit in Pakistan?

On 7 November 2026, stitched suits started at Rs 6,649 at Limelight on sale. Embroidered 3 piece suits at mid range brands cost Rs 12,990 to Rs 19,990, and Maria B formals started at Rs 25,990.

Is velvet warm enough for a Lahore winter?

Yes for an evening indoors, and for short walks between the car and the hall. Add a shawl outdoors on the coldest nights.

Which colour of velvet looks best at a wedding?

Maroon, black, emerald and navy hold their colour best under hall lights. Pale velvet shows marks and creases faster.

Can I wash a velvet suit at home?

It is safer to dry clean. If the label allows hand washing, use cold water, press water out gently and dry it flat in the shade.

How many metres of velvet do I need for a suit?

The sets we read list 1.2 to 1.8 metres for the shirt and about 1.8 metres for trousers. Tell your tailor the exact length, since velvet has to be cut with the pile running one way.

Is micro velvet the same as velvet?

Micro velvet has a shorter pile and usually feels lighter. Brands use different blends, so read the fabric line on each product page.
