Balochistan Excise has an online page where you pick your district, vehicle type and plate number and see whether your number plate is ready for collection, still being processed or not yet arrived. The excise office in Quetta answers on 081-9202929. Check the page before you travel to the district office.

A trip to the excise office for a plate that has not arrived is a wasted day, and in Balochistan the distances are long. The department added a plate status page to its portal so you can check from home. We opened that page on 15 October 2026 and read how it works. We did not run a search for a real plate, so we describe the form and its statuses, not a live result.

The status page asks for a district, a vehicle type and a plate number

The page has three boxes: district, vehicle type and plate number. Vehicle type can be non-commercial, commercial or motorcycle or scooter. You type the plate number in capitals, and the page shows the plate, the district, the date and a coloured status badge.

The page gives two examples of how to write a number: TKA-123 for a non-commercial vehicle and MA-0001 for a motorcycle. Type it the same way, with the letters, a hyphen and the digits. If your plate does not appear, check the format on your registration papers before you assume anything is wrong.

The department's home page links to this tool under the label "Checks yours number plate". If you cannot find it, start from the department site and follow that link.

Three statuses tell you whether to visit the office

The page uses three statuses. Ready means the plate has arrived and can be collected at your district excise office. Processing means it is being prepared and will be available soon. Not ready means it has not yet arrived, and the page asks you to check back later.

Only go to the office on a Ready result. A Processing or Not ready result means a trip would be wasted. The page also keeps a table of recent updates by district, series, range and type, with a remark for each batch. When we opened it, the table showed no updates yet and each status column showed no ranges.

An empty page does not mean your plate is lost. It may mean the department has not yet loaded the ranges for your district. Call the helpline before you worry.

The three plate statuses on the Balochistan Excise portal: ready, processing and not ready

The Quetta helpline and office hours are listed on the portal

The portal lists the department at Zarghoon Road, Quetta, with the helpline 081-9202929 and the email excise@balochistan.gov.pk. Office hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Plan around those hours. A Friday visit has only three and a half hours. If the status says Ready, go early on a Monday to Thursday and bring your CNIC and the registration papers. The page does not list the papers for collection, so ask on the phone what the district office wants.

For the papers and fees to register a vehicle in the first place, see the steps to register a vehicle in Balochistan.

If the status does not change, call before you travel

A plate that stays at Processing for a long time is worth a call. Give the helpline your district, the plate number and the date you applied. Ask for the date the batch is expected and write down the name of the person who answers.

A short call is cheaper than a trip. If you also owe token tax, the steps to pay Balochistan token tax online save another visit. The vehicle record itself can be checked separately, as shown in how to verify a vehicle in all provinces.

  1. Open the Balochistan Excise portal and go to the number plate status page.
  2. Choose your district and the vehicle type.
  3. Type your plate number in capitals, with the hyphen, such as TKA-123.
  4. Press Check Status and read the badge: Ready, Processing or Not ready.
  5. Visit the district excise office only on Ready, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday.
  6. If nothing shows, call 081-9202929 with your plate number.

Vanity plate applications have closed for now

The same portal runs vanity number plates. Its announcement gave 30 June 2026 as the last date to apply and the date of the e-auction. The department's home page also carried a final notice asking applicants to pay a Rs 5,000 processing fee before 30 September 2026 to avoid disqualification.

Both dates have passed. The approved plates page said no plates were open for bidding and none were pending auction when we looked. Watch the department's home page for a new round. Do not pay anyone who offers to arrange a vanity plate outside the portal.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 15 October 2026. We opened the Balochistan Excise department home page and the plate status, vanity plate and tax calculator pages of the portal it links to. The form fields, statuses, helpline, office hours and vanity plate dates are from those pages. We did not look up a plate, so we have not seen a live result. The status table was empty when we opened it. The department can change the tool at any time, so confirm by phone.
