Pakistan lead the ODI tri-series points table with 2 points and a net run rate of plus 0.74 after beating Sri Lanka by 37 runs in Rawalpindi on 18 October 2026. Sri Lanka are on 0 with minus 0.74, and England start on 20 October. Each team plays four league matches, and the top two meet in the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday 31 October at 1 pm PKT.
We read the standings on Cricket Australia's match centre and the scorecard of the first match on 19 October 2026, and the England fixtures on the ECB website the same day. The PCB website was behind a bot check, so we could not read the official playing conditions, and we say below which tie-break rules that leaves unconfirmed.
Pakistan have 2 points, Sri Lanka 0 and England have not played
The table after one match is simple. Pakistan won, so they have 2 points. Sri Lanka lost, so they have 0. England have played nobody yet. Net run rate separates teams level on points, and after one match Pakistan's is exactly the mirror of Sri Lanka's, as it has to be.

| Team | Played | Won | Lost | Points | Net run rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pakistan | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | +0.74 |
| England | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |
| Sri Lanka | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | -0.74 |
The match itself is covered in the report on Pakistan's 37 run win over Sri Lanka. Salman Agha made 107 and Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 for 55.
Net run rate is worked out on the full 50 overs when a side is bowled out
Pakistan scored 305 and were all out in 49.5 overs. Sri Lanka scored 268 and were all out in 48.1. When a team is bowled out, net run rate counts the full 50 overs, not the overs actually used. So Pakistan's rate is 305 divided by 50, which is 6.10, and Sri Lanka's is 268 divided by 50, which is 5.36.
Pakistan's net run rate is 6.10 minus 5.36, which is plus 0.74. Sri Lanka's is the reverse, minus 0.74. That matches the table we read. If Sri Lanka had batted out their 50 overs for the same score, the figures would be the same; the bowled-out rule only matters when a side is all out early, as both were here.
Five league matches are left before the final on 31 October
Each team plays the other two twice, which makes six league matches, and one has been played. Three are in Rawalpindi and the rest in Lahore. Every match starts at 1 pm PKT, as set out in the page on the tri-series start times, and the ECB lists its four on its men's fixtures page.

- Tuesday 20 October: Pakistan v England, Rawalpindi.
- Thursday 22 October: Sri Lanka v England, Rawalpindi.
- Sunday 25 October: Pakistan v England, Lahore.
- Tuesday 27 October: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, Lahore.
- Thursday 29 October: Sri Lanka v England, Lahore.
- Saturday 31 October: Final, first v second, Lahore.
The next match is previewed in the page on the Pakistan v England ODI on 20 October. For the Lahore matches, the ground rules and ticket prices are in the Gaddafi Stadium match day guide.
Three wins guarantee Pakistan a place in the final, two may need net run rate
There are 12 points in the league, 2 for each of the six matches. If Pakistan win three of their four, they have 6 points and the other two teams share the remaining 6. Neither of them can then get above 6, so Pakistan cannot finish third. Three wins means a place in the final, whatever else happens.
Two wins give Pakistan 4 points and leave 8 for England and Sri Lanka to share. If those split 6 and 2, or 8 and 0, Pakistan finish second and go through. If they split 4 and 4, all three teams are level on 4 and net run rate decides the two finalists. That is why the plus 0.74 from Rawalpindi matters even now.
| Pakistan's league record | Points | Place in the final |
|---|---|---|
| 4 wins | 8 | Certain, as first |
| 3 wins | 6 | Certain |
| 2 wins | 4 | Likely, net run rate decides a three-way tie |
| 1 win | 2 | Only if the other two also finish on 2, which cannot happen |
One win is not enough. With 2 points, Pakistan need both other sides to finish on 2 as well, but three Pakistan defeats hand England and Sri Lanka 6 points between them, so at least one of them finishes above 2, unless matches are washed out. A win over England on 20 October would make the second of Pakistan's two remaining wins much easier to find.
Rain and tie-breaks are the parts we could not read on an official page
We could not open the PCB's playing conditions for the series, so we do not know how many points a no-result carries or the exact order of tie-breaks after net run rate. In most ODI series run on ICC playing conditions a no-result gives each side 1 point and a tie gives 1 each, but treat that as the usual practice rather than a confirmed rule for this series.
If rain cuts a match short, the target is reset by the DLS method, which we explain in the page on checking a DLS target, and ticket holders should read the PCB refund rules for washouts. The PCB website is the place the official table and conditions should appear once its bot check clears.

England and Sri Lanka came into the series on 95 rating points each in the ICC ODI team table, with Pakistan fifth on 100, as we showed in the page on the ICC ODI table before the tri-series. Those ratings move with each result too, but the series table above is the one that decides the final.
Common questions
Who is top of the Pakistan ODI tri-series table?
Pakistan, with 2 points and a net run rate of plus 0.74 after one match. Sri Lanka are on 0 and England have not played.
How many points is a win worth?
2 points. The table after the first match shows Pakistan on 2 and Sri Lanka on 0.
How is the final decided?
The top two teams after the six league matches play the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 1 pm PKT.
How is net run rate calculated when a team is all out?
The full 50 overs are used. Pakistan's 305 all out in 49.5 overs counts as 305 in 50, a rate of 6.10, and Sri Lanka's 268 counts as 268 in 50, a rate of 5.36.
How many wins do Pakistan need to reach the final?
Three wins from four guarantee it. Two wins are likely enough, but a three-way tie on 4 points would be settled on net run rate.
What happens if a match is rained off?
We could not read the official playing conditions. The usual practice is 1 point each for a no-result, but we have not confirmed it for this series.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the series standings and top scorers on Cricket Australia's match centre, the full scorecard of the first match, and the ECB men's fixtures page on 19 October 2026. The net run rate arithmetic and the qualification scenarios are our own working from a 2 points per win system with six league matches. Not verified: the points for a no-result, the tie-break order after net run rate, and the official PCB table, because the PCB website returned a bot check on 19 October 2026.
