Fix Your Page Title in Google Search Results for a Pakistani Website
Google builds your title link from many sources and rewrites weak ones. See the faults it names, how to fix a wrong title and how long Google takes to update.

Short answer: Google builds the blue title in its results from several sources, and your page's title element is only the main one. To control it, give every page a short, unique title element that matches the page's main heading, put the brand once at the end, and wait a few days to a few weeks for Google to recrawl.
A tailor in Lahore searches for his own shop and sees the title "Home". Another result shows his shop name twice. Neither is what he wrote. Google changed them, because the title he supplied was too vague to describe the page.
We read Google's Search Central page on title links on 12 October 2026. The rules below follow that page. Google also says it never guarantees that its choice will match yours, so this is about making your intended title the easiest one for Google to pick.
Google picks the title link from many sources, not only your title tag
Google says its systems may use the title element, the main visible heading, the first heading, the og:title tag, prominent styled text, other page content, anchor text on the page and links to the page from elsewhere. Your title element is the main input, but it can be overruled.
This is why a page with a weak title element gets rewritten. If the title says "Home" or "Untitled", Google looks for a better description in the heading, in the body and in the links that point to the page. It then shows the best match, which may not be the words you chose.
| Source Google may use | What to do about it |
|---|---|
| Title element | Write a clear, unique one for every page |
| Main heading on the page (H1) | Keep it close to the title element |
| og:title tag | Match it to the title element |
| Anchor text of links to the page | Use descriptive link text on your own site |
| Other prominent text | Do not style a slogan larger than the heading |

A good title is descriptive, short and different on every page
Google's advice is to give every page a title element that is descriptive and concise. Avoid vague words like "Home" or "Profile". Avoid long strings of keywords. Google truncates titles to fit the screen width and sets no fixed character limit, so keep the important words at the start.
For a Pakistani business page, a title that names the subject and the place does the job. "Wedding Dresses in Gulberg, Lahore" tells both a searcher and Google what the page is. "Best Cheap Wedding Dresses Lahore Wedding Dress Shop Lahore" repeats itself and may be rewritten.
The brand name belongs once, usually at the end, kept short. Google says to brand titles concisely, at the start or the end.
Boilerplate, stuffing and a language mismatch are the common faults
Google names three faults that make it ignore your title. They are keyword stuffing, repeated or boilerplate text across many pages, and a title written in a different language or script from the page. A fourth is a stale or fast-changing value such as a flight price.
- Keyword stuffing: the same word repeated to catch more searches.
- Boilerplate: every page on a shop site titled "Buy Online | Shop Name".
- Mismatch: an English title on an Urdu page, or Roman Urdu on an English page.
- Changing facts: a price in the title that is out of date by next week.

The second fault is the one most likely on small shop sites built from a template. If a theme sets the same title on all product pages, Google cannot tell them apart, and you lose the chance to show the product name.
How to fix a title that Google shows wrongly
Find the page, rewrite its title element, match the main heading to it, then ask Google to recrawl the page. Google says changes may take a few days to a few weeks to show, so do not rewrite the same title again after two days.
- Search your own page title in Google and note what Google shows.
- Open the page source and read the title element and the main heading.
- Rewrite the title element so it is unique, describes the page and puts the brand last.
- Make the main heading and the og:title say the same thing in similar words.
- In Search Console, use URL Inspection on the page and request indexing.
- Check again after a week. If it is unchanged, wait up to a month before touching it.

If the page does not appear in Google at all, a title is not the problem. Start with the pages not indexed report. And if Google shows a different page for your address, read the canonical fix first.
Check the other things people see beside the title
A title sits next to a small icon and a description. A missing or wrong icon looks careless, so run the favicon check for search results too. If you run a shop or a clinic, LocalBusiness markup gives Google a cleaner description of what the business is.
Do not pay for a title rewrite service that promises a ranking jump. A better title can improve how often people click, but Google does not promise a rank change from it.
Common questions
Why does Google show a different title from mine?
Google builds the title link automatically from several sources. If your title element is vague, repeated across pages or does not match the heading, Google uses a better description from the page.
How long should a page title be?
Google sets no fixed limit. Titles are cut to fit the device width, so put the key words first and keep the title short enough to read in full.
Is the H1 the same as the title element?
No. The title element appears in the browser tab and in search results. The H1 is the visible heading on the page. Google may use both, so keep them close in wording.
How long until a new title shows in Google?
Google says it must recrawl and reprocess the page, which may take a few days to a few weeks. Requesting indexing in Search Console can speed it up but does not guarantee it.
Should I put my brand name in every title?
Yes, once, short and at the end. Do not repeat it or place long slogans before the subject.
Can an Urdu page have an English title?
It is better not to. Google lists a mismatch of writing system or language between title and content as a fault. Write the title in the language of the page.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read Google's title link documentation on 12 October 2026 for the sources, the faults, the truncation note and the recrawl time. Google updates its documentation from time to time, so read the page again before a large site-wide change.
