Short answer: To replace a lost or damaged Punjab driving licence, apply for a duplicate on DLIMS, now reached through the Dastak app. The fee is Rs 100 to Rs 200, plus a Rs 480 courier charge, so Rs 580 for a motorcycle and Rs 630 for a car. You pay with a PSID and the card comes by courier.

You lose your wallet at a bus stop and the licence is in it. The next traffic stop is a problem. In Punjab the fix is a duplicate licence, and it is one of the cheapest services on the Driving License Information Management System, known as DLIMS.

We read the DLIMS fee structure and its home page and FAQ on 12 October 2026. The figures below are from the portal's own table. The portal now points users to the Dastak app, so the screens you see may look a little different from the older DLIMS pages.

A duplicate licence costs Rs 580 to Rs 680

The fee depends on your licence category. A motorcycle, rickshaw or commercial tractor licence costs Rs 100. A car, jeep or LTV licence costs Rs 150. Any combination or heavier category costs Rs 200. Every duplicate also pays a Rs 480 courier fee.

Licence categoryDuplicate feeCourierTotal
MotorcycleRs 100Rs 480Rs 580
RickshawRs 100Rs 480Rs 580
Tractor, commercialRs 100Rs 480Rs 580
Car or jeepRs 150Rs 480Rs 630
LTVRs 150Rs 480Rs 630
Motorcycle plus car, HTV, PSV or agricultural tractorRs 200Rs 480Rs 680

If your licence has more than one category, the portal says the fee of the highest category applies. The courier charge is the same for every row.

The steps are the same as a renewal, with a duplicate option

You create an account, fill in the form, generate a PSID, pay it, wait for approval and receive the card. DLIMS shows "Renew" and "Duplicate" side by side for existing licence holders.

  1. Open the DLIMS site or the Dastak app and create an account or log in. Link your old DLIMS account to Dastak if the site asks.
  2. Choose the duplicate licence option and enter your licence details.
  3. Upload a clear face picture and a scan of your CNIC, front and back.
  4. Generate the PSID. This is the payment slip number.
  5. Pay the PSID by ATM, online banking or a mobile banking app.
  6. Wait for approval. The portal describes an administrative review after payment.
  7. Track the application and wait for the courier.
Seven steps to apply for a duplicate driving licence in Punjab on DLIMS

The portal's FAQ lists a face picture, scans of the CNIC front and back, and a medical certificate signed by a government doctor if your age is above 50. That FAQ is written for the learner licence, so we treat it as the likely list for a duplicate as well. Check what the form asks for on your screen.

Renewing a lost licence adds the duplicate fee

If your licence has expired and you have also lost the card, you do not need two separate trips. The DLIMS fee table says that if you apply for renewal and the original licence is not available, the duplicate fee is added. Late renewal fines apply as usual.

The renewal fine rates and the one year threshold are explained in the guide on how to renew a driving licence in Punjab. Read it before you pay if your licence is more than a few months expired.

What to do while you wait for the card

The courier can take days. DLIMS has an e-licence tool that generates a digital copy of your licence from your CNIC and date of birth. The portal also has "Verify License" and "Track Application" pages. The steps for both are set out in the guide to checking or tracking a Punjab driving licence online.

The Punjab Police services list on its website also shows a "Loss Report" service. We could not confirm whether DLIMS asks for a loss report for a duplicate licence, so do not wait for one unless the form asks.

The portal's helpline is 042-99202892, and the emergency number it lists is 15. If you lose your CNIC too, the steps are in the explainer on what to do if you lose your CNIC.

Keep a photo of your CNIC and a note of your licence number somewhere safe. Your licence number is the first thing the form asks for, and without it you may need to look it up through the verify page. A damaged card is treated the same way as a lost one, and you apply for a duplicate in both cases.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read the DLIMS fee structure and the DLIMS home page and FAQ on 12 October 2026. Fees and screens change, so the portal governs. We did not apply for a duplicate ourselves, so the steps follow the portal's own flow chart.
