How to Get a Police Character Certificate in Islamabad: Rs 1,000, 3 Working Days
Islamabad Police character certificate: Rs 1,000 fee, 3 working days, documents for applicants in Pakistan and abroad, and which centres open late. Read first.

Short answer: To get a police character certificate in Islamabad, go to a Police Khidmat Markaz with your original CNIC and passport and proof that you live in Islamabad. Islamabad Police lists a fee of Rs 1,000, paid at the counter, and 3 working days of processing.
A man in G-10 has a job offer abroad. The employer wants a police character certificate in two weeks. He is not sure if his Rawalpindi address on his CNIC is a problem. It is not, if he has the right affidavit and Islamabad proof. This is the list to avoid a second trip.
We read the Islamabad Capital Territory Police character certificate page on 13 October 2026. The documents, fee, time and centres below come from that page. It applies to the capital territory. Punjab, Sindh and the other provinces run their own systems.
The certificate is for travel, work and papers abroad
Islamabad Police lists six uses: visas and international travel, overseas jobs, immigration, university admission abroad, professional licensing, and adoption or legal proceedings. A police character certificate is an official police record about your conduct, issued for the address where you live.
The page says most countries ask for it. It adds that validity is generally 6 months to 1 year, depending on what the receiving country or organisation requires. Ask the receiver for its limit before you apply, so you do not pay twice. A broader overview of the national move to online certificates is in the guide to police character certificates going online nationwide.
Bring three documents if you are in Pakistan
Applicants in Pakistan need the original CNIC or B-Form and passport, a residence proof in Islamabad, and an affidavit only when the CNIC does not show an Islamabad address. Proof can be a rent agreement, an allotment letter or a hostel letter on official letterhead.
- Original CNIC or B-Form, and your passport.
- Proof of residence in Islamabad: a rent agreement, an allotment letter, or a hostel letter on official letterhead.
- An affidavit, only if your CNIC does not show an Islamabad address.

If you rent, the tenant paperwork matters. The guide to tenant registration with Islamabad Police explains the police side of a rent agreement.
Applicants abroad send five items
If you live abroad, you need an authority letter that is stamped by the embassy or attested by a gazetted officer. Add a recent photograph, an affidavit of your stay abroad, the last exit page of your passport and a residence proof in Islamabad.
- Authority letter, embassy stamped or attested by a gazetted officer.
- Your recent photograph.
- Affidavit stating how long you stayed abroad.
- Copy of the last exit page of your passport.
- Residence proof in Islamabad, as above.
The page says a blood relative can apply for you with an authority letter. An applicant abroad must supply an embassy attested letter.
The fee is Rs 1,000 and it takes 3 working days
Islamabad Police lists Rs 1,000 as the application fee, payable at the counter, and 3 working days as the standard time. You apply at a Police Khidmat Markaz. The page also shows an online form and a status tracker that uses your CNIC and application ID.
| Item | What Islamabad Police says |
|---|---|
| Fee | Rs 1,000, payable at the counter |
| Processing time | 3 working days |
| Where to apply | A Police Khidmat Markaz |
| Online option | Online form and status tracker on the page |
| Typical validity | 6 months to 1 year, set by the receiver |

We did not submit the online form, so we cannot say how it works in practice. The counter process is the one the page describes in words.
Pick a centre that offers the service
All 11 Police Khidmat Markaz locations listed by Islamabad Police offer character certificates. Two are open 24 hours: PKM Cascade in the Diplomatic Enclave and PKM F-6 near Super Market. The rest open at 8:30 am and close at 5:00 pm.
Pakistan Asaan Markaz in G-9 stays open until 8:00 pm. For the full list with hours and phone numbers, see the guide to finding a Police Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad. If you also need a verification for a job, the page on general police verification in Islamabad is a different service.
Apply early. Three working days is the standard time, but the receiving office may want other papers attested as well, and that takes longer. Count back from your deadline and leave a week.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 13 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read Islamabad Police's character certificate page and its citizen services list on the home page. The page does not give a revision date. We did not use the online form or visit a centre, so queue times and online results are untested.
