K-Electric Bill Check Online: Number, Duplicate Bill, September Lines
Check a K-Electric bill online with the 13 digit account number, get a duplicate by app, WhatsApp or SMS, and read the two new September lines.

A K-Electric bill check online needs one number, the 13 digit account number printed on any old bill. Enter it on the Digital Bills and Payments page at ke.com.pk, or in the KE Live app, and the bill loads. A duplicate bill also comes by WhatsApp on 0348-0000118 or by texting BILL to 8119. September 2026 bills carry two extra NEPRA lines, Rs 2.0581 and Rs 0.5194 a unit.
K-Electric is the odd one out among Pakistan's power companies, and that shows the moment you try to look up a bill. Every other distribution company sits on the same PITC portal and asks for a 14 digit reference number. K-Electric runs its own site, its own app, and asks for a 13 digit account number instead. Guides that mix the two up send Karachi readers to a form that will never find them.
We read ke.com.pk on 17 September 2026, including its bills page, contact page, Know Your Bill page and tariff page, and the two NEPRA decisions it hosts for September. K-Electric's own contact page counts 22 customer experience centres, 23 mobile vans and 42 facilitation centres across Karachi, which is a lot of counters for a company that would rather you used the app.
Where do you check a K-Electric bill online?
On the Digital Bills and Payments page of ke.com.pk, which K-Electric describes as the place to enter your details, view the bill and pay it. The KE Live app does the same job and adds a download button. Both want the 13 digit account number.
| Route | What you get | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| ke.com.pk, Digital Bills and Payments | View the bill, pay by card or bank account | 13 digit account number |
| KE Live app, Android and iPhone | View, download, duplicate bills, several accounts, pay by card | One time sign up, then the account number |
| WhatsApp 0348-0000118 | Duplicate bill, complaints, power status, tax certificate | Send HI, then follow the menu |
| SMS 8119 | Bill amount, load shed schedule, complaints | REG plus account number once, then BILL |
| Email subscription | The monthly bill in your inbox | Sign up on the Subscribe for E-Billing page |
Which one to use depends on why you are looking. For the amount, SMS is fastest. For a PDF you can print or send to a landlord, the app or WhatsApp. For a payment, the website or the app. Every other company's portal is in the tested list of electricity bill portals, and the shape of the LESCO one is in the LESCO bill check, for readers with a connection outside Karachi.
What is the K-Electric account number?
The 13 digit number K-Electric prints on every bill, and the only number it wants from you. K-Electric's Know Your Bill page calls the account number the single most important reference for customers, and says the contract number and consumer number that also appear on the bill are for internal use by K-Electric and its vendors.
That sentence settles a confusion that runs through most bill check guides. Pages that tell you to keep an 8 digit consumer number handy, or to look for a 14 digit reference, are describing other companies. The contact page's own example is REG 0400012345678, thirteen digits starting with 04.
Type it with no spaces. If the site or app says the number is not found, count the digits on the paper bill. The account number does not change from month to month, so once it is saved in the app or registered on 8119 you never need the paper again.
How do you get a K-Electric duplicate bill?
Three official routes, none of which cost anything or need a visit. K-Electric's own pages name all three.
- KE Live app. Sign up, add the account number, and open the bill. The app's own description lists the latest bill, duplicate bills and payment history as downloads, and lets one login hold several accounts, which suits a household with a shop or a rented flat.
- WhatsApp. Save 0348-0000118, send HI, and choose the duplicate bill option. K-Electric describes the service as available 24 hours a day in English and Urdu.
- SMS. Text REG followed by the 13 digit account number to 8119. After the confirmation, text BILL to 8119 for the amount. Without registering, BILL followed by the account number works too.
The 8119 service also answers LS for the load shedding schedule, COMP to register a technical complaint, ACCT to list the accounts on your number, and UNREG with the account number to remove one. The other power companies use different codes, and the routes for them and for the gas companies are in duplicate bills for electricity and gas.
When is a K-Electric bill due, and what is the late surcharge?
The due date is printed on the bill, and K-Electric's Know Your Bill page sets out what happens after it. Pay within three days of the due date and a late payment surcharge of 5 per cent is added. Miss that three day window and the surcharge is 10 per cent.
That is steeper than it sounds. On a Rs 20,000 bill, three days of delay costs Rs 1,000 and a week costs Rs 2,000. The bill's 13 month usage history marks every missed due date with a small circle, and the customer type box at the top right of the bill carries a Def code, for defaulter, among the codes K-Electric lists.
Read two lines separately when the bill loads. Amount Due is this month's charge. Previous Due is what was still unpaid from before. K-Electric redesigned the bill in August 2025 to show that split, and it matters, because paying only the Amount Due leaves the arrears and the surcharge running.
What are the new lines on the September 2026 K-Electric bill?
Two NEPRA adjustments, both approved in the first week of September and both applied to K-Electric consumers. We read the decisions on K-Electric's own tariff page, where the company posts each NEPRA order.
| Line on the bill | Rate | Which units | Who is exempt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fuel charges adjustment, July 2026 | Rs 2.0581 a unit | Units billed in July, charged on the September bill | Lifeline consumers, EV charging stations, prepaid consumers |
| Quarterly adjustment, April to June 2026 | Rs 0.5194 a unit | September, October and November bills | Lifeline consumers, incremental package units, prepaid consumers |
The fuel charge is NEPRA's monthly correction for what generation actually cost. Its notification of 4 September 2026 puts the real fuel cost for July at Rs 9.1511 a unit against a reference of Rs 7.0929, and passes the Rs 2.0581 gap on in the September billing month. The same order says the adjustment applies to K-Electric consumers under the federal policy of uniform charges, and must be shown as a separate line.
The quarterly adjustment is a different mechanism, covering capacity and other costs for April to June. SRO 1501(I)/2026 of 7 September 2026 spreads Rs 12,669 million over three months at Rs 0.5194 a unit, and says in terms that it applies to K-Electric consumers for the same period.
Together they add Rs 2.58 a unit to a September bill, which is our arithmetic, not a figure either order prints. A house using 400 units pays about Rs 1,030 more before tax. The DISCO side of the same September changes, and the discount that ended in August, are in the September bill increase. What each of the twelve lines on the bill means, and which one can be claimed back, is in the bill line items explainer.
Which taxes sit on a K-Electric residential bill?
Three, and K-Electric's tariff page names each with its rate. Electricity duty is 1.5 per cent of the variable charges for a domestic connection. General sales tax applies at the rate in the Sales Tax Act. Income tax under Section 235 depends on the size of the bill and on whether you file.
For a residential bill the income tax is 0 per cent below Rs 25,000 and 7.5 per cent at Rs 25,000 or more, and residential consumers on the Active Taxpayers List are not charged it at all. On a Rs 30,000 bill that is Rs 2,250 a month for not filing, which is more than most people's late surcharge. The way to get the filer exemption applied is in advance tax on electricity bills for filers.
Time of use meters pay peak rates from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM between April and October, and from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM between November and March, also from the tariff page.
What if the K-Electric bill looks wrong?
Compare units first, not rupees. September bills are higher because of the two adjustment lines above, and a bill that jumped for that reason looks the same as one that jumped from a misread meter. If the units are close to last month's and the money is not, it is the tariff. If the units jumped, that is a reading problem.
For a reading problem, the KE Live app has a self reading feature that lets you upload a photograph of the meter and submit the figure. For a complaint, K-Electric's channels are 118, 99000, WhatsApp on 0348-0000118, COMP to 8119, and the app. If K-Electric does not resolve it, the regulator takes complaints against the company, and the route is in the NEPRA complaint guide.
Customer experience centres open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a break from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, per the contact page.

Last checked and sources
Last checked 17 September 2026. We read K-Electric's website at ke.com.pk, including the Digital Bills and Payments page, which asks for the 13 digit KE account number and lists the participating banks and card payment; the Contact Us page, which gives 118 and 99000, the WhatsApp number 0348-0000118, the 8119 SMS commands with the example REG 0400012345678, the counts of customer experience centres, mobile vans and facilitation centres, and their opening hours; the Know Your Bill page, which describes the August 2025 bill redesign, the customer type codes, the missed payment circle, the statement that the account number is the only reference customers need, and the late payment surcharge of 5 per cent within three days and 10 per cent after; and the Tariff Structure page, which lists SRO 150 of 7 September 2026 as the latest notification, electricity duty of 1.5 per cent, income tax of 7.5 per cent on residential bills of Rs 25,000 or more with active taxpayers exempt, and the peak hours. We read NEPRA's July 2026 fuel charges adjustment decision and its notification of 4 September 2026, and SRO 1501(I)/2026 of 7 September 2026, both hosted on K-Electric's tariff page, for the Rs 2.0581 and Rs 0.5194 figures, their billing months, their application to K-Electric and their exemptions. The Rs 2.58 total and the Rs 1,030 example are our own arithmetic. The KE Live app description is from its Google Play listing. We did not submit a live account number, so the bill form is described from the page rather than from a bill it returned. K-Electric's pages and NEPRA's orders are the final word if anything here has changed.
