Book an Official Water Tanker in Karachi Online: KWSC App, Rates and Complaints

To book an official water tanker in Karachi, use the KWSC Unified app from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC). The corporation's own help page says tankers are booked through this app, round the clock. For complaints about a tanker or a hydrant, call KWSC on 1334.

We checked KWSC's website and the app's official listing on 28 September 2026. The reported official rate for a 1,000 gallon tanker for homes is Rs 1,560, with no extra charge within 10 kilometres of the hydrant. KWSC does not publish that rate list on its website, and a rate review is under way, so treat the numbers below as reported.

The KWSC Unified app is the official way to book a tanker

KWSC's frequently asked questions, updated on 15 September 2026, give one answer to "How can I book a tanker?": through the KWSC Unified app, which works round the clock. The same app shows your water bill and takes complaints.

The app is linked from the footer of kwsc.gos.pk, which is the safest way to find it. On Google Play it is called "KWSC Unified" and its package name is pk.gov.kwsc.kwsc_digital. The listing names the developer as Asani.io Digital. On 28 September it showed more than 100,000 downloads and version 1.1.9, updated on 12 August 2026.

The website's own "Book Tanker" button was pointing to an older web booking portal. That address did not load for us on 28 September. So use the app, not a website someone sends you on WhatsApp.

The official service is meant for areas without piped water, KWSC's site says. If your area does get line water, fix that first. The steps for a new water connection in Pakistan cover Karachi too.

Booking a Karachi water tanker takes five steps in the app

You install the app, register with your mobile number, wait for your account to be verified, add your address, then choose a tanker and book. We did not place a booking ourselves, so these steps come from the app's listing and its update notes.

1. Install the right app. Open the link on kwsc.gos.pk, or search "KWSC Unified" and check the package name pk.gov.kwsc.kwsc_digital.
2. Register. Sign up with your mobile number and the one time code sent to it.
3. Wait for verification. New accounts are checked before you can order. Users report the app promises 24 to 48 hours, but some waited longer.
4. Add your site. The app calls an address a "site". Its latest update mentions document uploads for plot creation requests, so keep a utility bill or property paper ready.
5. Book and track. Choose the tanker size and book. The listing says the app sends updates until delivery.

Check the address on your profile carefully. One user said the app showed the wrong area and locked profile changes for 30 days.

Users also report two limits: a "no quota" message when the day's tankers are taken, and one tanker a month in some areas. KWSC has not published these rules, so we cannot confirm them. Try early in the day if you see "no quota".

Official tanker rates start at Rs 1,560 for 1,000 gallons, as reported

The notified rate for a 1,000 gallon General Public Supply tanker is reported as Rs 1,560, and a commercial tanker of the same size as Rs 3,120. Delivery within 10 kilometres of the hydrant costs nothing extra. KWSC does not show this rate list on its website.

General Public Supply (GPS) is the rate for homes. Commercial rates apply to businesses. These figures were quoted by KWSC's hydrants cell and in news reports in early July 2026.

Beyond 10 kilometres there is an extra charge per kilometre. Reports differ on the amount: one put it at Rs 67.28 a kilometre, another at Rs 60. Ask for the distance charge before you confirm.

A bigger tanker is much cheaper per gallon. At these rates, 5,000 gallons costs Rs 0.78 a gallon, against Rs 1.56 for 1,000 gallons. That is our own sum. If you have the tank space, or share with neighbours, the larger size saves money.

Private tankers in Karachi often charge far more than these rates. That gap is the main reason to use the official route, even when it takes a few days.

A tanker rate increase is under review in 2026

KWSC has formed a committee to review tanker rates because of higher diesel costs, according to the head of its hydrants cell in early July 2026. New rates would come before the next hydrant contracts. No new rate had been announced on KWSC's website by 28 September.

The hydrants cell in-charge said tanker operators found the old rates no longer covered diesel. Nothing has been notified yet. When new rates come, the app should show the price before you pay, and that is the number that counts.

Complaints about a tanker or a hydrant go to 1334

KWSC's helpline for complaints is 1334. You can also complain online at complain.kwsc.gos.pk or email complaint@kwsc.gos.pk. The online system has a separate "Hydrant complaint" category, alongside water, sewerage, billing and bulk supply.

Use the hydrant category if a tanker is late, short or overcharged. Here is what to include:

• your booking number from the app;
• the date and time of the booking and the promised delivery;
• the tanker size you paid for and what arrived;
• the amount charged and any receipt;
• a photo of the tanker's number plate, if it came.

Keep the complaint number you get. KWSC's site has a "Track Complaint" option to follow it up. For water theft or illegal connections, KWSC also asks people to call 1334. The head office is at 9th Mile Karsaz, Shahrah-e-Faisal, with the general number (021) 111 597 200.

If the water itself looks or smells wrong, do not drink it untreated. Boil it or use a filter. Bottled water is not always safer either, as the unsafe bottled water brands list shows.
