Who Is Eligible for the Laptop Scheme?
An official notification has confirmed that this scheme is only for students enrolled in:
- Public sector universities
- Public colleges
- Public medical institutions
These are institutions where most students come from backgrounds that cannot easily afford the latest tech equipment.
How Laptop Distribution Will Happen
In the first phase of this program:
- Around 7,000 shortlisted students will receive laptops.
- The first distribution ceremony will take place on 30th April 2025.
- Later phases will continue to distribute laptops across Punjab to more deserving students.
Important Requirement: NADRA Biometric Verification
To ensure transparency and fairness, the government has partnered with NADRA for student verification.
- Students must complete biometric verification at their nearest NADRA e-Sahulat Center.
- Verification starts from 24th April 2025.
- Students do not have to pay anything, all costs for verification will be covered by the Higher Education Department.
- Institutions have been instructed to coordinate and assist students in completing their verification on time.
