How to Pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee for a US F-1 Visa From Pakistan: $350 in Dollars
Pakistani students pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of $350 for an F-1 visa at fmjfee.com in US dollars. See what you need, what to print and where to get it wrong.

Short answer: A Pakistani student applying for a US F-1 visa pays the SEVIS I-901 fee of $350. J-1 exchange visitors pay $220. Pay in US dollars at fmjfee.com, using the SEVIS ID from your Form I-20 or DS-2019, then print the payment confirmation. It is separate from your visa fee and your school fees.
Many students pay the visa fee at the bank, then lose a week because they never paid the SEVIS fee at all. The two are different payments, to different offices, on different websites.
We read the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) page on the I-901 SEVIS fee on 14 October 2026. We did not read the US embassy's page for Pakistan, so we cannot say here exactly when the embassy wants the receipt.
The fee is $350 for F-1 and $220 for J-1
ICE lists $350 for F and M visa applicants and $220 for J visa applicants. Some special J categories pay a reduced $35, and government visitors pay nothing. The fee is separate from your visa application fee and any SEVIS administration fee your school charges.

| Visa type | I-901 SEVIS fee (full payment) |
|---|---|
| F-1 or M-1 student | $350 |
| J-1 exchange visitor | $220 |
| Special J categories | $35 |
| Government visitors | $0 |
SEVIS stands for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. It is the US database that tracks international students. The fee pays for running it. Your school enters your record, and you pay the fee against that record.
Pay only at the official ICE payment site
ICE says you pay in US dollars by credit card at fmjfee.com, or by cheque, money order or Western Union. The site name is fmjfee.com. Copycat sites exist for almost every government fee, so type the address yourself and do not follow ads or messages.
ICE also links a paper Form I-901 for payment by post, and a Western Union Quick Pay instruction sheet. For most Pakistani students, the practical question is how to pay in dollars. Our page on tax on card payments abroad explains what happens when a Pakistani card pays a foreign site. We did not test a Pakistani card on fmjfee.com.
Some families ask a relative abroad to pay. The ICE page does not say whether someone else's card is allowed, so check the instructions on the payment site before you rely on it.
What you need before you pay
You need your SEVIS ID, last name and date of birth. The SEVIS ID is on the Form I-20 your school issued, or the DS-2019 for J-1. Without that form there is nothing to pay against.
- Get your Form I-20 (or DS-2019) from the school and read the SEVIS ID on it.
- Check that your name and date of birth match your passport exactly.
- Open fmjfee.com by typing the address, not by clicking a link.
- Enter the SEVIS ID, last name and date of birth, and pick the right visa type.
- Pay the amount in US dollars and save the confirmation.

A mistake in the name or date of birth can cause a mismatch at the visa interview. If something on the I-20 is wrong, ask your school to correct the record before you pay.
Print your confirmation and keep it
ICE says SEVP no longer mails paper receipts. You print the payment confirmation from fmjfee.com using your SEVIS ID, last name and date of birth. ICE says it replaces the old I-797C receipt, so save a PDF.

The ICE page does not say whether you must show the confirmation at the visa interview. The US embassy's own instructions are the place to confirm what to bring. Read the notes on the US visa interview waiver and renewal rules as well, because rules for who needs an interview have changed.
Other US student visa checks
The SEVIS fee is one step. You will also need a visa application fee, an interview slot and a clean public online profile. US rules for Pakistani applicants have changed more than once, so read the current notes before you book.
Recent changes include how social media accounts are reviewed. Read the explainer on US visa social media rules for Pakistani applicants. For the wider picture of student visa rules, see new US student visa rules for Pakistanis. And see whether Pakistan is affected by the visa bond scheme in US visa bond: Pakistan not included.
Finally, never pay an agent to "get" your SEVIS fee paid or to book interview dates for money. Our guide to staying safe with study abroad agents explains what to ask before you hand over cash.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the ICE page I-901 SEVIS fee. We did not read the US embassy's Pakistan page, the visa application fee page or the interview booking steps, so we state no visa fee or interview rule here. Confirm those directly with the embassy.
