Petrol costs Rs 398.30 a litre in Pakistan from Saturday, 10 October 2026, down 66 paisa. High speed diesel is Rs 396.24, up 52 paisa. Petrol has fallen for the first time this month, after six rises in a row.

That is the petrol price today in Pakistan. We read the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) price sheet effective 10 October at about 6:45pm PKT. OGRA is the regulator that works out fuel prices under the daily pricing system. Its sheet says both prices apply from midnight, "00:00 hours".

Petrol is Rs 398.30 and diesel Rs 396.24 today

From 10 October 2026, petrol is Rs 398.30 a litre and high speed diesel is Rs 396.24. Petrol fell Rs 0.66 and diesel rose Rs 0.52 from the 9 October rates. The two fuels moved in opposite directions, so the gap between them has narrowed to Rs 2.06.

The 9 October prices lasted one day. Petrol is now Rs 1.70 short of Rs 400 a litre, a little further away than yesterday.

Petrol's first cut in October is small

Petrol had gone up on six price dates in a row, from Rs 387.40 on 1 October to Rs 398.96 on 9 October. Today's 66 paisa cut takes back only a small part of that. Petrol is still Rs 10.90 a litre dearer than on 1 October.

Why the small cut? The world price barely moved. OGRA's sheet shows the Gulf petrol price averaged $133.48 a barrel, against $133.52 on Friday. The rupee firmed slightly too, to an average of Rs 277.19 to the dollar. So petrol landed at Karachi cost Rs 261.11 a litre, 71 paisa less than yesterday.

Two small items pushed the other way. The exchange rate adjustment rose 14 paisa to Rs 1.47, and the inland freight margin fell 9 paisa to Rs 7.93. Net result: 66 paisa off. OGRA uses a seven working day rolling average, so a calm week in oil markets shows up at the pump as tiny moves like this one. That same lag explains why petrol does not fall when oil falls on the same day.

Diesel rises 52 paisa for a second day

Diesel is up Rs 0.52 to Rs 396.24. It rose 78 paisa yesterday as well. Even so, diesel is Rs 28.68 a litre below its Rs 424.92 peak on 18 September, about 6.7 per cent cheaper.

High speed diesel price in Pakistan, 6 October to 10 October 2026

Dubai crude, the world benchmark used for diesel, averaged $108.07 a barrel on today's sheet, up from $107.74. The fixed diesel crack of $41.89 a barrel did not change. The steps behind that crack are in how Pakistan sets the diesel price. Diesel landed at Karachi now costs Rs 273.00 a litre, up 56 paisa, and a 4 paisa cut in its freight margin trimmed the rise to 52 paisa.

Levies and customs still add Rs 109.94 to each litre of petrol

OGRA's sheet breaks down the Rs 398.30. The petroleum levy is Rs 80 a litre, the climate support levy Rs 5 and customs duty Rs 24.94. Together that is Rs 109.94 on petrol, unchanged. Diesel carries Rs 100.68, because its customs duty is Rs 15.68.

What makes up the petrol price in Pakistan on 10 October 2026, from OGRA's sheet
  • Petrol landed at Karachi: Rs 261.11 a litre, at $149.60 a barrel including freight.
  • Diesel landed at Karachi: Rs 273.00 a litre, at $156.46 a barrel.
  • Exchange rate adjustment: Rs 1.47 a litre on petrol and zero on diesel.
  • Inland freight margin: Rs 7.93 on petrol and Rs 4.71 on diesel.
  • Oil company margin: Rs 7.87 a litre on both fuels.
  • Petrol pump dealer's margin: Rs 9.98 a litre on both fuels.
  • Sales tax: zero. OGRA's sheet says both fuels are exempt.

Add the levies, customs duty, the three margins and the exchange rate adjustment, and Rs 137.19 of every litre of petrol is set at home rather than abroad. The full method is in how Pakistan sets the petrol price every day.

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 26.40 less than yesterday

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 15,932 today, Rs 26.40 less than on 9 October. A 200 litre diesel fill costs Rs 79,248, Rs 104 more than yesterday but still Rs 5,736 less than at the 18 September peak.

Cost of a petrol and diesel fill in Pakistan on 10 October 2026
  1. Bike, 5 litres of petrol: Rs 1,991.50, down Rs 3.30.
  2. Car, 10 litres of petrol: Rs 3,983, down Rs 6.60.
  3. Car, 40 litres of petrol: Rs 15,932, down Rs 26.40.
  4. Pickup, 40 litres of diesel: Rs 15,849.60, up Rs 20.80.
  5. Truck, 200 litres of diesel: Rs 79,248, up Rs 104.

These are our own sums at OGRA's reference price. A pump far from the main depots can charge a little more, because OGRA's price leaves out the last leg of freight, from depot to pump. The running record sits with the daily petrol price in Pakistan.

The 9771 relief brings petrol to Rs 298.30

Bikes, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc still get Rs 100 off each litre with a 9771 token. At today's price that makes petrol Rs 298.30 a litre. We read the official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk, on the evening of 10 October. It still lists Rs 100 a litre, 5 litres for 7 days for two and three wheelers, and 10 litres for 10 days for cars up to 800cc, for vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2006.

On those terms a 5 litre bike token costs Rs 1,491.50 at the pump and a 10 litre car token costs Rs 2,983. The SMS format and fixes for a missing token are in how to get petrol relief with code 9771.

Common questions

What is the petrol price in Pakistan today?

Rs 398.30 a litre from 10 October 2026, down Rs 0.66 from Rs 398.96. The figure is on OGRA's price sheet effective 10 October.

What is the diesel price today?

High speed diesel is Rs 396.24 a litre, up Rs 0.52 from Rs 395.72. It is still Rs 28.68 below the 18 September peak.

Why did petrol come down only 66 paisa?

The Gulf petrol price hardly changed, at $133.48 a barrel against $133.52. A slightly stronger rupee cut the import cost by 71 paisa, and small margin changes left a net cut of 66 paisa.

Is diesel now cheaper than petrol?

Yes, by Rs 2.06 a litre. Diesel cost Rs 22.84 more than petrol on 25 September, but that gap has reversed over the past two weeks.

How much is petrol with the 9771 relief?

Rs 298.30 a litre. The discount is a fixed Rs 100 a litre, so the relief price moves with the pump price.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 10 October 2026, about 6:45pm PKT. We read OGRA's price publications, where the sheet "Effective Dated October 10, 2026" lists petrol at Rs 398.30 and diesel at Rs 396.24 with the full cost breakdown quoted above. The relief terms are from pmfuelrelief.pk, read on 10 October. Earlier daily prices are from the OGRA sheets we read on those dates. The fill costs, gaps and totals are our own arithmetic. Prices change often, so check the pump before relying on any figure here.
