How to Reactivate an Expired SIM in Pakistan
If the number has not been issued to someone else, you can get it back. Here is how:
Visit Network Provider Service Center
- Bring original CNIC
- Take expired SIM (if available)
- Go to the nearest franchise/service center (not retailer)
- Request SIM reactivation
- Go through biometric verification
If successful, they will issue a new SIM card with the same number. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. A small reissue fee may also apply depending on the network provider.
How Long Before a SIM Expires in Pakistan?
All major networks providers in Pakistan deactivate SIMs after 180 days (6 months) of inactivity:
- Jazz: 180 days
- Zong: 180 days
- Ufone: 180 days
- Telenor: 180 days
If the sim is not used for more than 6 months, it will be recycled and available for new user. In that case, reactivation is not possible.

What If SIM Is Blocked by FBR (Non Tax Filer)
Sims also gets blocked by FBR of non filers. If the SIM is blocked due to non filing of tax returns, here how to reactivate:
- File income tax return
- Pay the ATL reactivation fine (Rs. 1,000)
- Wait 24–72 hours, SIM will be reactivated automatically

Can I Reactivate SIM Through Helpline or Online?
Due to biometric laws in Pakistan, SIM reactivation can only be done in person with fingerprint verification. No online form, app, or call center can issue old number unless you visit a service center.
What If SIM Is Registered on Someone Else CNIC?
Only Original CNIC holder can reactivate sim in his name. If sim is in your name but you lost track, they will verify your CNIC at the service center and issue a replacement. If it was someone else’s SIM (e.g., your father, friend, or employer), that person must go with you.
