Popular phones that are not 5G

Some phones look like 5G models because of their price or battery, but they are not. Check before you pay for 5G.

1. vivo Y500, from Rs 89,999: its spec page says "5G Not supported".
2. vivo Y31d, from Rs 72,999: its chip is the Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 4G, and the page lists no 5G bands.
3. Samsung Galaxy A17 without "5G" in its name is a separate phone from the A17 5G.
4. Tecno CAMON 50 and CAMON 50 Pro do not carry 5G in their names, unlike the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G.

Rule of thumb: in Pakistan, a maker that sells a 5G phone puts "5G" in its name or its spec sheet. If neither says 5G, assume it is 4G.

Before you buy a 5G phone

A 5G phone only helps if your network has 5G where you live and your phone is registered.

1. Check your operator's 5G coverage and phone list. See the Jazz 5G phones list and the Zong 5G phones list.
2. Buy the official PTA approved version. Send the IMEI to 8484 and read what each reply means.
3. For an imported 5G phone, read our PTA tax on 5G phones guide first.
4. Turn on 5G in the phone's network settings after you insert the SIM.
