Short answer: IBA Karachi asks for at least 65 per cent in HSSC for the BBA, BS Accounting and Finance and Business Analytics, and 60 per cent for the BS programmes. A Level students need 2 Bs and a C, or 1 B and 2 Cs. An ACT composite of 28 or 29 can replace the IBA test.

Every year, students pay for the IBA test and then find out they never met the marks bar. That is an avoidable loss. IBA publishes its eligibility rules in its admission policy, and the numbers differ by programme.

We read the IBA admission policy at admissions.iba.edu.pk on 14 October 2026. This guide turns it into a check you can do in five minutes, before you apply for the round that closes on 9 December 2026.

  1. Find your programme in the table below.
  2. Compare your HSSC percentage or A Level grades with the minimum.
  3. For a maths programme, confirm you studied Mathematics.
  4. Decide whether an ACT score lets you skip the IBA test.
  5. Start your IBCC equivalence early if your certificate is foreign.

BBA and business programmes need 65 per cent in HSSC

IBA says applicants to the BBA, BS Accounting and Finance and BSBA (Business Analytics) must hold an HSSC with at least 65 per cent marks. A Level candidates need an average of two Bs and one C, with at least 8 points in three principal subjects.

The same page allows a maximum of one D grade. E and U grades are not accepted. No credit is given for subsidiary, general or advanced supplementary papers, so count only your three principal subjects. IBA also takes an American or Canadian high school diploma with at least 80 per cent, or an International Baccalaureate with at least 25 points out of 45.

BS programmes need 60 per cent, and some need maths

For BS Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics, Mathematics and Economics and Data Science, IBA wants an HSSC in Pre-Engineering, or a general group with Mathematics, at 60 per cent. A Level students need one B and two Cs, at least 7 points, with Mathematics included.

Mathematics is a must for these programmes. A pre-medical student without maths does not qualify on marks alone. If that is you, read how pre-medical students can join BS Computer Science before you spend on a test. For BS Economics and BS Social Sciences and Liberal Arts, the HSSC bar is 60 per cent in any group, and A Level students need one B and two Cs with at least 7 points.

Foreign certificates need an IBCC equivalence

IBA says every holder of a foreign degree or certificate must give an equivalence certificate from the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC). This applies to A Levels, the US diploma and the IB. Apply for it before the form closes, because it takes time.

We found IBCC equivalence guides for each route: the O and A Level equivalence certificate, the US high school diploma and the IB Diploma. For graduate applicants with a degree from outside Pakistan, IBA asks for an HEC equivalence instead.

An ACT score can replace the aptitude test

IBA lets you skip its aptitude test with an ACT composite of 29 for the BBA, BSBA and BSAF, and 28 for BS Social Sciences. The BS Economics, Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics and Economics and Data Science programmes need a composite of 28.

Programmes that need strong English also set an English or Writing score of 25 out of 36. The policy says the English score is not required for BSECO, BSCS, BSEM and BSEDS, though you may submit it for placement in English courses after admission. Scores stay valid for five years from the date the testing body released them to the date of your IBA form.

ACT scores that waive the IBA aptitude test: 29 for BBA and 28 for BS programmes

A high SAT score does not guarantee a seat

IBA says there is no minimum SAT score for an aptitude test exemption. Only the top scorers on its SAT merit list get direct admission or an interview. If your SAT is not near the top, you are marked unsuccessful.

The policy states this in plain terms. It advises anyone unsure of their SAT standing to sit the IBA test as well and apply in Round 1. The SAT merit list is announced together with the aptitude test result. We would follow that advice, because the SAT waiver can leave you with no result at all.

IBA minimum HSSC marks at 65 per cent for business programmes

Graduate programmes have their own bar

MS applicants need 16 years of education, with four years at an HEC recognised university and a 2.5 CGPA or 60 per cent in the last degree. GMAT 600, or GRE 160 in Quantitative and 150 in Verbal, exempts you from the test.

PhD applicants need an MS or MPhil in a relevant subject from a recognised university, with 60 per cent or a 3.0 CGPA. Post Graduate Diploma applicants need 14 years of education with six years of work, or 16 years with three years. Check the programme announcement for department rules, which IBA says can add more conditions.

Before you apply, check that your degree is from a recognised, accredited school. The guide on NBEAC accreditation for BBA and MBA programmes explains the check for business degrees.

Common questions

What is the minimum percentage for IBA BBA admission?

It is 65 per cent in HSSC. A Level students need an average of two Bs and one C with at least 8 points.

Can I join IBA BS Computer Science without maths?

No. IBA asks for Pre-Engineering or a general group with Mathematics, and A Level students must include Mathematics.

What ACT score do I need to skip the IBA test?

You need a composite of 29 for the BBA, BSBA and BSAF and 28 for BS Social Sciences, Economics, Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics and Economics and Data Science.

Is there a minimum SAT score at IBA?

No. IBA says only the top scorers on its SAT merit list get direct admission or an interview, so a good score alone is not enough.

How long is an SAT or ACT score valid for IBA?

Five years, counted from the day the score was released to the day you submit your IBA form.

Do I need an IBCC certificate for A Levels?

Yes. IBA says all foreign degree and certificate holders must provide an equivalency certificate from IBCC.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the IBA admission policy. The policy points to an offered-programmes page for the A Level grade points table, which we did not open, so we do not give the point values. IBA can change its criteria, so confirm on the admissions page or on +92 21 111 422 422 before you pay the test fee.
