A wide south Punjab river under a hazy smoggy sky, for Kot Addu's AQI on Punjab EPA's dashboard

Short answer: Check Kot Addu's AQI free on Punjab EPA's official dashboard, aqi.punjab.gov.pk, which updates every hour. At 5 pm on 7 November 2026 it put Kot Addu at 212, "Unhealthy" and the worst city in Punjab at that hour. At 3 am the same day it had read 500, the top of the scale. Muzaffargarh read 197 and DG Khan 184 at 5 pm.

Kot Addu, the town on the Indus north of Muzaffargarh, has topped Punjab's AQI ranking more than once this month. It was first at 3 am on 7 November with 500 and first again at 5 pm with 212. Those two numbers, fourteen hours apart, show why one reading is never enough here. We read every figure on Punjab EPA's dashboard ourselves.

This page covers Kot Addu with Muzaffargarh and DG Khan, the two cities people there most often travel to. For Bahawalpur and the rest of the south, see our south Punjab AQI guide.

Kot Addu and nearby cities by AQI at 5 pm on 7 November 2026: Kot Addu 212, Muzaffargarh 197, DG Khan 184

Kot Addu's AQI at 5 pm on 7 November 2026 was 212

Punjab EPA's dashboard showed Kot Addu at 212 in its 5 pm reading on 7 November. That sits in the Unhealthy band on Punjab's seven band scale. Before dawn the same day, at 3 am, Kot Addu had read 500, in the Hazardous band.

Kot Addu was one of only three Punjab cities in the Unhealthy band at 5 pm, with Sahiwal at 211 and Pakpattan at 204. That is a large fall from 500, but Punjab EPA still asks everyone to wear a face mask outdoors in this band and to avoid heavy or long outdoor activity.

The dashboard lists Kot Addu in its city ranking only. It names monitoring stations and gives PM2.5 and PM10 figures for Lahore alone, so we cannot tell you which part of Kot Addu the reading comes from or how many monitors sit behind it.

Check Kot Addu's AQI on the Punjab EPA dashboard in five steps

Open aqi.punjab.gov.pk in any phone browser. It is free and needs no login or app. The page opens on Lahore, then ranks every Punjab city by AQI. Find Kot Addu in that list and read the update time beside it.

  1. Open aqi.punjab.gov.pk and look for the "Last updated" time.
  2. Scroll to the city ranking under Current AQI and find Kot Addu.
  3. Read the number, then match it to a band in the table further down.
  4. Use "Select District" under the trends section and pick Kot Addu to see its last 24 hours.
  5. Open the health advisory page and read the advice for your band.

The same page has a "Set AQI Alert" box with Kot Addu in its district list, and it asks your browser for permission to send notifications. We did not switch alerts on for this check, so we cannot say how often they arrive. If another app shows a different number, our guide to Punjab's AQI levels explains why labels can differ between scales.

Five steps to check Kot Addu's AQI on the Punjab EPA dashboard

Muzaffargarh is also in our south Punjab guide, and Multan, 174 at 5 pm, has its own Multan AQI page. If you commute between Kot Addu and Multan, check both cities, not just one.

Kot Addu's readings this week swung from 156 to 500

We read the same dashboard five times between 4 and 7 November. Kot Addu's figure moved a lot between those readings, and the time of day explains most of the swing. Pre-dawn readings were the highest in most cities, and afternoon readings the lowest.

Kot Addu's range in our five readings ran from 156 to 500. It read 443 at 5 am on 4 November and 156 at 3 am on 5 November, so a pre-dawn reading here is not always the worst. A jump of nearly 300 points in a day is unusual, which is one more reason to check twice before you trust a single number.

Our rule is simple. If the number jumps sharply from the last one, look again an hour later and glance at the nearby cities. If they are all high, the air is probably bad. If one city alone looks strange, wait for the next reading.

What Punjab EPA tells you to do at each AQI band

Punjab EPA's advice follows the band, so check the band first. Above 200, everyone should wear a mask outdoors and avoid heavy or long effort outside. Above 400, everyone should stay indoors. Vulnerable people should take care at much lower readings.

BandAQI rangePunjab EPA's advice in short
Good0 to 50Clean air, no limits on outdoor activity
Satisfactory51 to 100Acceptable, outdoor plans can go ahead
Moderate101 to 150Check the AQI first; vulnerable people cut time outdoors
Unhealthy for sensitive groups151 to 200Everyone cuts long or hard outdoor effort; children and older adults stay in
Unhealthy201 to 300Everyone wears a mask outdoors; vulnerable people use N95
Very Unhealthy301 to 400Limit outdoor activity, exercise indoors
Hazardous401 to 500Stay inside; N95 and protective glasses if you must go out
  • Keep doors and windows shut on high readings.
  • Wear a well-fitted N95 or KN95 mask outdoors in the Unhealthy band or worse.
  • Move errands you can to the afternoon, when this week's readings were lowest.
  • Report burning and smoky kilns on the Green Punjab app, and farmers should know the crop burning fine.

Vulnerable people are children, older people, pregnant women and anyone with asthma, COPD or heart disease. See a doctor if a child breathes fast, or anyone has chest tightness, wheezing or a cough that will not settle. If someone has chest pain or cannot breathe, go to the nearest emergency department at once.
