Petrol Price Today in Pakistan, 26 September 2026: Up to Rs 391.30

Petrol costs Rs 391.30 a litre in Pakistan from Saturday, 26 September 2026, up Rs 2.02. High speed diesel is Rs 408.53, down Rs 3.59. Petrol has gone up after three cuts in a row, while diesel has now fallen on six price dates running.

That is the petrol price today in Pakistan. We read the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) price sheet for 26 September at about 8:30pm PKT. OGRA is the regulator that works out the price each day. Its sheet gives both new prices, effective from midnight.

Bike and car owners pay a little more today. Diesel users gain again. A truck taking 200 litres now pays Rs 3,278 less than at the 18 September peak.

Petrol is Rs 391.30 and diesel Rs 408.53 today

From 26 September 2026, petrol is Rs 391.30 a litre and high speed diesel is Rs 408.53. Petrol rose Rs 2.02 and diesel fell Rs 3.59 from the 25 September rates. OGRA's own price sheet and Pakistan State Oil's price page both show these figures.

The petrol and diesel rows are confirmed at source. OGRA's sheet for 26 September lists petrol at Rs 391.30 and diesel at Rs 408.53, "effective September 26, 2026, 00:00 hours". The Petroleum Division has not posted its own press release for this date on its website yet.

Kerosene and light diesel oil fell much more, by about Rs 25 and Rs 28. We saw these two prices only on PSO's page, marked effective 26 September. OGRA's daily sheet covers only petrol and diesel, and we found no government notice for kerosene. So treat those two figures as PSO's listed rates for now.

Reports say the new petrol and diesel prices hold from 26 to 28 September, Saturday to Monday. OGRA's sheet gives a start time but no end date. Last week the price set for Saturday 19 September held until Monday, so the same pattern is likely. We will know when the next release comes.

Petrol rose Rs 2.02 after three cuts

Petrol fell on 23, 24 and 25 September, by Rs 4.47 in total. Today's rise takes back Rs 2.02 of that. At Rs 391.30, petrol is Rs 2.45 below the 22 September high of Rs 393.75, and only 8 paisa above 17 September.

The 25 September row is now confirmed by the government too. The Petroleum Division has posted its release dated 24 September, which set petrol at Rs 389.28 and diesel at Rs 412.12 for 25 September. Our 25 September prices relied on PSO and news reports when they went out, and they match.

The longer view has barely moved. Petrol is Rs 45.43 above the Rs 345.87 it cost on 5 September. The small daily swings since then have mostly cancelled each other out.

Diesel is Rs 16.39 below its 18 September peak

Diesel peaked at Rs 424.92 on 18 September. It has fallen on every price date since: 19, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 September. That is six cuts in a row, worth Rs 16.39 a litre, or about 3.9 per cent.

The gap between the two fuels is closing. Diesel cost Rs 22.84 more than petrol yesterday. Today the gap is Rs 17.23. Diesel runs trucks, buses, tractors and tube wells, so a lower diesel price matters for goods and farm costs, not just for drivers.

Why do the two fuels move in opposite directions? OGRA prices them from different world quotes. Petrol follows the Gulf price of 92 octane petrol. Diesel follows Dubai crude plus a "crack", the extra that diesel sells for over crude. On today's sheet that crack is $41.89 a barrel. OGRA uses a seven working day average, so world moves reach the pump slowly. That lag is explained in why petrol did not fall when oil fell.

None of the reports we read mention any change in transport fares.

Levies and customs add Rs 108.68 to each litre of petrol

OGRA's sheet shows what makes up the Rs 391.30. The petroleum levy is Rs 80 a litre, the climate support levy Rs 5, and customs duty Rs 23.68. Together that is Rs 108.68 on petrol. Diesel carries Rs 100.68, because its customs duty is Rs 15.68.

• Petrol landed at Karachi port: Rs 254.96 a litre, based on a world price of $129.54 a barrel and Rs 277.36 to the dollar.
• Oil company margin: Rs 7.87 a litre, the same for petrol and diesel.
• Petrol pump dealer's margin: Rs 9.98 a litre.
• Inland freight margin: Rs 7.91 on petrol and Rs 4.15 on diesel. It spreads the cost of moving fuel around the country.
• Sales tax: zero on both. OGRA's sheet says both fuels are exempt.

The levy is the government's main earner here. The petroleum levy is set by the federal government, not OGRA, so it does not move with world prices. The dealer's share is also fixed by the government, and how that dealer margin is paid has caused strikes before.

A 40 litre tank costs Rs 80.80 more than yesterday

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 15,652 today, Rs 80.80 more than on 25 September. A 200 litre diesel fill costs Rs 81,706, which is Rs 718 less than yesterday and Rs 3,278 less than at the 18 September peak.

3. Car, 40 litres of petrol: Rs 15,652, up Rs 80.80.
4. Pickup, 40 litres of diesel: Rs 16,341.20, down Rs 143.60.
5. Truck, 200 litres of diesel: Rs 81,706, down Rs 718.

These are our own sums at the reference price. A pump far from the main depots can charge a little more, because OGRA's price does not include the last leg of freight to the pump. The running record for each day sits with the daily petrol price in Pakistan.

The 9771 relief brings petrol to Rs 291.30

Bikes, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc still get Rs 100 off each litre with a 9771 token. At today's price that makes petrol Rs 291.30 a litre. A bike token covers 5 litres and saves Rs 500. A car token covers 10 litres and saves Rs 1,000.

We re-read the official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk, on 26 September. It still offers Rs 100 a litre, for vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2006. The car token is for 10 litres over 10 days. The discount is fixed, so today's rise costs a token holder the same Rs 2.02 a litre as everyone else.
