The Saudi ambassador assured Pakistan of 24 hour processing for workers' visas and a joint working group. No rule is out yet, so here is what to do for now.

The Saudi ambassador has assured Pakistan's Overseas Pakistanis minister of help to process workers' visas within 24 hours, according to reports on 5 and 6 November 2026. Both sides also agreed to form a joint working group. No new rule, start date or procedure has been published, so your current visa steps have not changed.
We checked the news page of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on 7 November 2026. Its newest item was dated 9 October, so the ministry has not posted the meeting there yet. Treat the 24 hour figure as a promise made in a meeting, not as a service you can demand from an agent today.
The ambassador promised help with 24 hour visa processing
The ambassador met federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain and said Saudi Arabia would help speed up visas for Pakistani workers, with processing within 24 hours. Reports call this an assurance. They do not give a date, a visa category or a method.
The ambassador also spoke of support on the other problems Pakistani workers face in the kingdom. Those problems were not listed in detail in what we read. The minister's side of the talk was about skills: more jobs for skilled Pakistanis, and training that matches what the Saudi labour market wants.
The minister also asked for timely information on which skills Saudi employers need and how many workers they want. That request matters more than it sounds. A training centre in Pakistan cannot prepare workers for a demand it hears about late.

A joint working group is the one concrete outcome
Both sides agreed to form a joint working group. Its reported jobs are to deal with Pakistani workers' issues, strengthen cooperation between institutions and promote human resource development. Its members, first meeting date and deadline have not been reported.
A working group is a committee of officials from both countries. It can change procedures later, but its creation changes nothing for a worker this week. We would not plan a trip or pay anybody on the strength of it.
| Point | What the reports say | Status on 7 November |
|---|---|---|
| Visa processing | Help to process workers' visas within 24 hours | Assurance only, no procedure published |
| Joint working group | Both sides agreed to form one | Members and dates not reported |
| More jobs | Minister asked for more jobs for skilled workers | A request, no number given |
| Skills data | Minister asked for timely demand information | A request, no system announced |
| Written notice | None found on the ministry's news page | Check again before you rely on it |
Your current Saudi visa steps stay the same for now
Nothing we read cancels any current step. Your employer still has to issue the visa, and the job still has to be real. Medical, skill and Protector steps stay in place until an official notice says otherwise, whatever an agent tells you.
Use the time to check the things that are already in your control. Start with your agent. The Bureau of Emigration licenses overseas employment promoters, and you can check an overseas job agency before handing over a passport or any money. Then check the visa itself.
- Ask for your visa number and check the Saudi visa by passport number.
- Confirm the agent's licence with the Bureau of Emigration.
- Book the Wafid GCC medical yourself if your trade and visa require it.
- Check if your trade needs a Takamol skill test and register for it.
- Complete Protector of Emigrants registration before you fly.

Expect agents to use the 24 hour line, so hold your money
A headline like this is easy to sell. If anybody asks for extra money because a visa will now come in 24 hours, refuse and ask for the official notice. No fast track has been announced that an agent can sell you.
The law already sets an overseas job agent fee limit for licensed promoters. Pay through a bank where you can, keep every receipt, and get the contract in writing. If somebody without a licence has taken your money, you can report the unlicensed agent under the emigration law.
Also note what this promise cannot do. A faster visa does not change Saudi rules on which jobs are open to foreigners. Some professions are reserved in part for Saudi citizens, so it is worth a look at the Saudi job list under the Saudization rules before you accept an offer.

Workers already in Saudi Arabia should keep their own papers valid
This assurance is about issuing visas. Workers already in the kingdom get no new protection from it yet. Keep your iqama valid, keep a copy of your contract, and use the labour dispute route if your employer breaks the contract.
The ambassador did speak of solving workers' other problems, and that is what the working group could take up. Until it does, the existing routes are the ones that work. You can check your iqama validity and your exit re-entry status online, and file a Saudi labour dispute for unpaid wages through the friendly settlement step.
In an emergency, the Pakistan embassy's emergency numbers in Saudi Arabia are the place to start. Save them on your phone now, not on the day you need them.
What would make this real, and what we will watch for
Three things would turn this into something you can use: a written notice from either government, the visa category it covers, and a start date. We will report those as they appear. Until then, plan on your existing timeline.
Also watch for the first meeting of the joint working group. Salik Hussain's ministry runs both the Bureau of Emigration and the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, so any change for workers should show up in a notice from one of those bodies. A screenshot on a WhatsApp group is not a notice.
Common questions
Are Saudi work visas for Pakistanis now issued in 24 hours?
Not as a published rule. The ambassador reportedly assured help with processing within 24 hours, but no start date or procedure has been released.
Who made this promise?
The Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, in a meeting with federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, as reported on 5 and 6 November 2026.
Does this cover Umrah or visit visas?
The reports speak only of workers' visas. Nothing we read mentions Umrah, visit or family visas.
Should I pay an agent extra for a 24 hour visa?
No. No paid fast track has been announced. Ask for the official notice and refuse the charge.
What is the joint working group?
A committee both countries agreed to form on workers' issues, institutional cooperation and human resource development. Its members and dates have not been reported.
Do I still need a medical and Protector registration?
Yes, where they apply to you today. Nothing we read changes them, and no official notice has said otherwise.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read reports of the meeting published on 5 and 6 November 2026. The event comes from press reports only, because the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development news list showed nothing newer than 9 October 2026 when we checked on 7 November, and the Press Information Department's latest releases we read had nothing on it. The Bureau of Emigration's site refused our request, so we could not read its notices directly.
