Virtual University Admission Fall 2026: Apply by 30 September, Fees and Steps

Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) closes fall 2026 admissions on Wednesday 30 September 2026. Classes start on Monday 5 October. You apply online at vu.edu.pk, and for BS, Associate Degree and B.Ed programmes, tuition is Rs 1,000 per credit hour.

We read VU's fall 2026 admission schedule, its admission instructions and its fee tables on 29 September 2026. The schedule gives one closing date for all programmes except merit based ones: 30 September. VU's own note says it "reserves the right to make any change(s) in the admission schedule", so check the page on the day you apply.

VU is a federal public sector university that teaches almost entirely online. Lectures are recorded, coursework runs on its learning system, and you sit exams at a VU campus or exam centre. It takes students twice a year: spring in February and March, and fall in August and September.

VU fall 2026 admission dates at a glance

VU's fall 2026 admissions opened on 6 July 2026 and close on 30 September 2026. Orientation runs from 28 September to 5 October, classes begin on 5 October, and course add or drop closes on 15 October.

MS and MPhil applicants are already past their window. Their entry test was on 18 September. For everyone else, 30 September is the date that matters, and VU says forms submitted after the due date "will not be accepted".

Programmes VU offers in fall 2026

VU is admitting to BS, Associate Degree, B.Ed, diploma and short programmes across five faculties this fall. Computer science and business have the widest choice, and BS Lateral entry lets diploma and degree holders join a BS midway.

• Computer Science and IT: BS Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology and Software Engineering, plus Associate Degrees in Computing, Networking, Data Science, Database Management and Web Design.
• Management: BS Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Public Administration and BBIT, and Associate Degrees in areas such as Human Resource Management, Supply Chain and Islamic Banking.
• Arts: BS Economics, English (Applied Linguistics), Islamic Studies, Mass Communication, Psychology and Sociology.
• Science: BS Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Statistics and Zoology. Lab work for biology programmes runs in listed cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta and Rawalpindi.
• Education: BS B.Ed (Hons) Elementary and Early Childhood, B.Ed Elementary (2.5 years), B.Ed Secondary (1.5 years) and an Associate Degree in Education.

Entry rules differ by programme. For BS Computer Science, VU asks for at least 50% marks in Intermediate, A Level or equivalent, with Mathematics. Students without Intermediate Mathematics must pass 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses in the first two semesters. A Level, Deeni Asnad and foreign qualifications need an equivalence certificate from IBCC or HEC.

VU fee structure for local students

For BS, Associate Degree and B.Ed students, VU charges a one time Rs 8,000 at admission, then Rs 1,000 per credit hour plus Rs 1,500 each semester in enrollment and exam fees. MS tuition is Rs 2,950 per credit hour.

Here is what that means in money. If your first BS semester carries 15 credit hours, you would pay Rs 8,000 in one time charges and Rs 16,500 for the semester, so Rs 24,500 in total. That is our arithmetic from VU's table, not a VU quote, and it leaves out lab fees.

Lab fees apply to practical courses: Rs 2,150 per credit hour for computer science practicals and Rs 3,200 for biological science practicals, according to the same table. Where a programme has an entry test, it costs Rs 1,000 and is not refunded. VU says this fee structure has applied to all students since spring 2026.

How to apply to Virtual University online

You sign up on VU's admission portal with your own CNIC, email and phone, upload scanned documents, pay the admission processing fee, and track your application. Scanned copies are required. VU rejects mobile phone photos of documents.

1. Get your documents scanned: CNIC or B-Form, a passport size photo on a blue background, and your mark sheets and certificates.
2. Open the Apply Now page on vu.edu.pk and sign up. Enter your CNIC correctly, because VU warns that a wrong one can get the form rejected.
3. Fill in the admission form, choose one programme, and upload each document where the form asks for it.
4. Pay the fee for that one form only. VU says paying for several programmes can lead to all of them being cancelled and the fee kept.
5. Submit by 30 September 2026, then watch your email for VU's decision and your learning system login.

A few cases need more paper. Students with A or O Levels, or a foreign degree, need an IBCC or HEC equivalence certificate. Students asking for course exemption through the general route must also send an original NOC, an original incomplete transcript and course contents in hard copy.

Applying with a result still pending

You can apply to VU before your final result arrives. VU accepts the Part I result card of your last programme, but you must send your full documents to a VU campus or the Islamabad admission office by 5 October 2026.

The documents are your educational certificates, your CNIC, two blue background photos, and any equivalence certificate. VU's instruction is blunt: if a result awaiting student misses that deadline, it may block their learning system access or cancel the enrolment for good. So once your board result is out, send the papers the same week.

Money is the other worry for many families. VU runs its own need based scholarship, which remits part or all of the tuition fee for one semester, and the last date to apply this fall is 5 October 2026. It is separate from the HEC need based scholarship, which works through participating universities. If you plan to study abroad after VU, keep your transcripts clean and read up on choosing a safe study abroad agent well before you apply.
