How to Apply for MBBS and BDS at Federal Medical College Islamabad 2026-27: SZABMU Portal Closes 30 October
SZABMU MBBS and BDS admission 2026-27 for Federal Medical College Islamabad, SKBZ Lahore and the School of Dentistry closes 30 October. Fee Rs 3,000. See seats.

Applications for MBBS and BDS in the federal government's public medical and dental colleges for 2026-27 are open at admission.szabmu.edu.pk/public until 30 October 2026. Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad, is the admitting university for Federal Medical College Islamabad, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Medical and Dental College Lahore and the School of Dentistry Islamabad. The fee is Rs 3,000 per programme. We read the SZABMU admission notice and seat tables on the university website on 19 October 2026.
These seats are open to candidates from every province and region, not only Islamabad, because each college reserves seats by domicile. Federal Medical College has 100 MBBS seats with 29 for Punjab, 25 for Islamabad and only 6 on open merit, so your domicile quota matters more here than anywhere else in the country.
The window runs from 11 October to 30 October 2026
Online registration opened on 11 October 2026 and the last date for submission is 30 October 2026. The notice gives no closing time, so treat the end of the working day as the limit. There is no paper form, no hard copy and no call letter: everything from application to merit list happens on the portal and the SZABMU website.
An application once submitted cannot be edited, which is the opposite of the UHS portal in Punjab, where edits are allowed until the deadline. Check every field before you press submit. MBBS and BDS are separate applications with separate Rs 3,000 fees, and a candidate who wants both pays Rs 6,000.

Eligibility follows the PMDC 2025 policy: 60% FSc and 55% MDCAT
You need at least 60% in HSSC pre-medical or an IBCC certified equivalent with Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, and a pass in MDCAT 2026, 2025 or 2024 with at least 55% for MBBS or 50% for BDS. SZABMU accepts MDCAT scores from SZABMU, UHS, KMU, BUMHS and IBA Sukkur, so a Punjab, KP, Balochistan or Sindh MDCAT all count.
Merit is 10% matric, 40% FSc and 50% MDCAT, the same formula used by every admitting university under the PMDC regulations. How your aggregate works out is explained in how to check your MDCAT result and aggregate. Candidates who sat the MDCAT in Islamabad can find their score through the NUMS MDCAT 2026 result check if they were on the NUMS roll, or on the SZABMU result page otherwise.
Federal Medical College has 100 seats, 29 for Punjab and 6 on open merit
The revised seat allocation for Federal Medical College Islamabad gives 6 open merit seats, 25 for Islamabad Capital Territory, 29 for Punjab, 7 for rural Sindh, 5 for urban Sindh, 7 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4 for Balochistan, 2 each for Gilgit-Baltistan, ex-FATA and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 9 for children of federal government employees and 2 for students with disabilities.
| Quota | Federal Medical College, Islamabad | SKBZ Al-Nahyan Medical and Dental College, Lahore |
|---|---|---|
| Open merit | 6 | 6 |
| Islamabad Capital Territory | 25 | 16 |
| Punjab | 29 | 29 |

| Federal government employees | 9 | 9 |
| Foreign seats | 0 | 10 |
| Students with disabilities | 2 | 2 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
Every Pakistani citizen, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, competes for the open merit seats and is also considered under their own domicile quota. The School of Dentistry seat list was not on the page we read, so check the university website for BDS numbers.

Quota seats need a certificate, and domicile alone is not enough
A domicile quota applicant must upload the domicile certificate plus proof of residence, property or education in that region. Federal government employee seats need a parent employment certificate from the department on the SZABMU specimen. Disability seats need a certificate from a federal or provincial disability board, and the applicant appears before the SZABMU medical board; a private doctor's letter does not count.
Ex-FATA applicants need domicile verification from the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner on the specimen form. Foreign seats at the Lahore college are for permanent foreign nationals and overseas Pakistanis holding an iqama, green card or Maple card, with an IBCC equivalence certificate and proof of study from the last school. Our IBCC equivalence guide explains how to get that certificate.
Apply in six steps and upload every file as JPG under 512 KB
Register on the portal with your CNIC, NICOP or passport number, email and a password. Then fill personal information, MDCAT information and academic information, upload scanned documents, choose MBBS or BDS, generate the Rs 3,000 challan, pay it and upload the receipt. Files must be JPEG or JPG only and under 512 KB each.
- Open admission.szabmu.edu.pk/public and register with your CNIC or passport number.
- Complete the personal, MDCAT and academic sections.
- Upload a passport photo on a blue or white background, CNIC or passport, matric and HSSC certificates or IBCC equivalence, domicile, MDCAT result certificate and any quota papers.
- Choose the programme. Apply again separately if you want both MBBS and BDS.
- Print the fee challan, pay Rs 3,000 at the bank and upload the paid challan.
- Give your order of preference among the colleges. A college you leave out cannot be offered to you.
Once the merit list is out, a selected candidate must deposit the college fee by the due date. Miss it and the seat goes to the next person on the waiting list. The university also says any admission can be cancelled at any stage if a document does not verify, and a forged paper means a ban from every medical and dental college. The fee itself is not stated in the notice; the federal colleges follow the PMDC framework, and public tuition is set by the federal government rather than UHS.

Punjab students can apply here and to UHS at the same time
The 29 Punjab seats at each federal college are open to Punjab domicile holders who are also applying through UHS for the Punjab public colleges. The two processes are separate, with separate fees and separate merit lists, and nothing stops you from holding a place on both until you have to pay a college fee. UHS's own window closes the same day, 30 October, as set out in how to apply for MBBS in Punjab public colleges.
KP students have the same choice with KMU, whose application round is covered in the KMU MBBS and BDS admission 2026-27 guide. For questions SZABMU lists 051-9107689 and admissions2026@szabmu.edu.pk. Check each college on the PMDC register before you rank it, using how to check a medical college is PMDC recognised.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 19 October 2026. We read the SZABMU admission notice for public sector medical and dental colleges, session 2026-27, published as an image on szabmu.edu.pk, for the colleges, eligibility, merit formula, procedure, fee, documents, instructions and the 11 to 30 October schedule. The seat tables come from the MBBS admission page on the same site, headed revised seats allocation for Federal Medical College and for Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Medical and Dental College. We did not find a seat table for the School of Dentistry, a closing time on 30 October, or the annual tuition fee, and we did not open the application portal itself.
