Google Search Status Dashboard: Check If a Google Update Is Hitting Your Pakistan Site (Every 2026 Update)
Check the Google Search Status Dashboard for core and spam updates. Every 2026 update with start and end times in PKT, and what to do when your traffic drops.

To check if a Google update is hitting your site, open the Google Search Status Dashboard at status.search.google.com. It lists every ranking update and every crawling, indexing or serving problem that affects many sites. We checked it on 8 November 2026 at about 14:40 PKT: no update was rolling out and no incident was open. The last ranking update, the September 2026 spam update, finished on 8 October 2026.
We opened the dashboard, its incident history and Google's own help page about the dashboard on 8 November 2026. Every date in this guide comes from those Google pages. We give each time in Pakistan time (PKT), because the dashboard itself shows US Pacific time and the raw history shows UTC.

The dashboard shows four kinds of Google Search problems
The dashboard is Google's official place to say that something is wrong with Search, or that a ranking update has started. It covers problems that affect many sites or many users. It does not report a problem that hits only your own site.
The summary page splits its history into groups. On 8 November 2026 it showed Crawling, Indexing, Ranking and Serving. Crawling is Googlebot visiting pages. Indexing is Google storing pages so they can appear in results. Ranking is the order of results. Serving is Google actually showing results to searchers.
| Status label | What Google says it means | What a site owner should do |
|---|---|---|
| Available | The system is generally working | Look for the cause on your own site |
| System information | An update or change, such as a ranking update rolling out | Wait for the rollout to finish before judging traffic |
| System disruption | Slower or degraded service, for example from a common third party such as DNS | Do not change your site, wait for Google's fix |
| System outage | The system is not working to a large extent | Note the dates, expect a dip in Search Console |
Google keeps every issue and update on the Summary and History page for 5 years. So you can go back and match an old traffic drop to a dated event.
Check the dashboard in 5 steps when your traffic drops
Do this before you change titles, delete pages or pay anyone to "fix" a penalty. Most sudden drops for Pakistani sites line up with a dated event, or with a problem on the site itself.
- Open status.search.google.com in any browser. You do not need to sign in.
- Look at the top table. A blue information icon next to Ranking means an update is rolling out now.
- Scroll to Ranking on the summary page and note the start date and the duration of the latest update.
- Open Search Console, go to Performance, and set the date range to cover two weeks before and after that update.
- If your drop starts inside the update window, read the update's own page, linked from its name. If it does not, check your own site first.
For step 5, our guide to pages not indexed in Search Console covers the most common site-side causes. If Search Console shows a message about a penalty, use our steps to fix a Google manual action instead. A manual action never appears on the dashboard, because it is about one site.

Every Google Search update and incident in 2026, in PKT
We read the dashboard's incident history on 8 November 2026. Eight events started in 2026, and all eight are marked finished. Times below are converted from UTC to PKT (UTC plus 5 hours).
| Update or incident | Started (PKT) | Finished (PKT) | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| September 2026 spam update | 24 September, 21:15 | 8 October, 13:00 | 13 days, 16 hours |
| August 2026 spam update | 18 August, 21:27 | 21 August, 13:49 | 2 days, 16 hours |
| June 2026 spam update | 24 June, 21:00 | 26 June, 22:00 | 2 days, 1 hour |
| May 2026 core update | 21 May, 20:40 | 2 June, 17:40 | 11 days, 21 hours |
| March 2026 core update | 27 March, 14:00 | 8 April, 18:00 | 12 days, 4 hours |
| March 2026 spam update | 25 March, 00:00 | 25 March, 19:30 | 19 hours, 30 minutes |
| Serving issue | 25 February, 08:55 | 25 February, 09:10 | 15 minutes |
| February 2026 Discover update | 5 February, 22:00 | 27 February, 15:00 | 21 days, 17 hours |
Two points stand out. First, 2026 had two core updates, in March and May, and four spam updates. Second, there has been no core update since June. If your site dropped in October or November 2026, the September spam update is the only listed event close to it, and it ended on 8 October.
The dashboard summary page shows the serving issue as 24 February, because it uses US Pacific time. In Pakistan it fell on the morning of 25 February. This time zone gap is a common source of confusion when people match dates.

Core, spam and Discover updates hit sites in different ways
A core update changes how Google judges the overall quality and usefulness of pages. Google's help page for the dashboard says that for a ranking update, often no action is needed, and that you should follow the link on the update for details. A spam update targets pages that break Google's spam policies, such as mass produced pages made only to rank, or bought links.
A Discover update affects only the Discover feed on phones, not normal search results. If your Search Console Discover report fell in February 2026 while Search stayed flat, the February Discover update is the likely cause. Our guide to getting a site ready for Discover lists what Google asks for.
For the September spam update in detail, read our September 2026 spam update site check. It explains which kinds of pages that update targets.
Get an alert the moment Google posts something new
You do not have to keep checking the page by hand. Google's help page for the dashboard lists an Atom feed, a kind of RSS feed, at status.search.google.com/en/feed.atom. Add that address to any feed reader and it shows each new post.
You can also pass the feed to an email or a team chat through a feed tool. Then a new core update reaches the whole team on the day it starts. Core updates in 2026 took about 12 days to finish, so judge your traffic on full weeks after the end date, not on the first day.
When the dashboard is green but your traffic still fell
Google says problems that hit only your pages, or a small number of sites, generally do not appear on the dashboard. A green dashboard means the cause is probably on your side. Check these in order:
| Check | Where | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Manual actions | Search Console, Security and Manual Actions | A penalty on your site only |
| Page indexing | Search Console, Indexing, Pages | Pages dropped from the index |
| robots.txt and noindex | URL Inspection on a lost page | A block you added by mistake |
| Hosting downtime | Your host's uptime log | Server errors that stop Googlebot |
| Seasonal demand | Search Console, compare to last year | A normal yearly drop, such as after a result day |
A blocked robots.txt file is a frequent cause after a theme or plugin change. Our guide to checking robots.txt and noindex walks through it.
Common questions
Is a Google update rolling out today, 8 November 2026?
No. We checked the dashboard at about 14:40 PKT on 8 November 2026. No ranking update was in progress and no crawling, indexing or serving incident was open.
When was the last Google core update?
The May 2026 core update. It started on 21 May at 20:40 PKT and finished on 2 June 2026 at 17:40 PKT, according to the dashboard history.
When did the September 2026 spam update finish?
Google marked it complete on 8 October 2026. It started on 24 September 2026, so it ran for 13 days and 16 hours.
Does the dashboard show a penalty on my website?
No. The dashboard only covers problems that affect many sites or users. A manual action on one site appears in that site's Search Console account instead.
How far back does the dashboard history go?
Google says issues and updates stay on the Summary and History page for 5 years.
Why do dashboard dates differ from Pakistan dates?
The summary page shows US Pacific time, which is 12 or 13 hours behind PKT. An event late on one day in California can fall on the next morning in Pakistan.
