What does Dematerialized means?
Dematerialized” means converting the ID card into a digital version, just like an e-wallet that only exists on your phone. This means your ID card will stay with you even when you don’t have your wallet.

Chairman NADRA Lt General Munir Afsar personally launched the dematerialized Digital ID Card initiative on 11th March 2025. He said that this new digital card will simplify everyday life by reducing paperwork and speeding up Identity Card verification.
Now, instead of always carrying around your physical CNIC, you’ll soon be able to verify your identity using your smartphone or other digital devices.

How Can You Get the New Digital ID?
According to NADRA, initially, this digital card will launch as a pilot project in major cities first. Once it get successful, Nadra will expand it nationwide. You will soon be able to apply for it online or visit your nearest NADRA center to get your digital ID.
